Collie Club of Wales
The Club is somewhat unique in that it has had only two secretaries, namely Prue Green, Secretary for 24 years, and Christine Collins, who held the position for 25 years. The long-standing Treasurer is Phyllis Parry (Maydil), who held this post for 27 years. Prue, along with her husband Len, were among the founder members of the club, together with Frank and Winnie Davies (Franwyns), who formed this popular regional club. Although the former are no longer with us, Winnie celebrated her 100th birthday in 2012.
The committee at present is very small, due in part to the diminishing numbers of Rough Collies in the Principality, but in its prime had such members as Dilwyn Parry (Maydil), Charlie and Pat Short (Hillandale), Pauline and Brian Skyrme (Emryks), Albert Turner (Beulah), John, Christine and Lynne Bibey, Joh and Normal Nicholas (Nickarlyn), Gordon and Rhona Lewis (Garthdale), Miriam and Don Phillips (Mirlyndon), and Marlene and Gordon Speck (Malgordene).
Probably the major event during the Club's history was the loss of its Challenge Certificates. However, through persistence with the Kennel Club and the Rough Collie Breed Council, a rotation was achieved between the 14 breed clubs. The club is grateful to Carole Smedley (Antoc) for her help in achieving this fair way of distributing the available set of tickets, and thanks its members for their support during that time.
