Essanjay Rough Collies

We have loved & been owned by this wonderful breed for over 40 years.

All our dogs live as family with us, from puppies to oldies, and their temperament is of the utmost importance to us.

We enjoy showing, but treat it as a day out, win or lose.

We breed only sparingly, always with a view to improving our stock.

All our breeding stock is hip scored, eye tested and MDR1 tested, and we have recently started DNA testing our younger stock for inherited conditions.

Ruby’s second litter only contained male puppies so we weren’t intending to keep any. But then respected friends persuaded us to give one a try, and so we would like to introduce our latest youngster, Bracken. He is certainly the most destructive puppy we’ve ever owned; if he can chew it he will! However, he is also proving quite a little star in the show ring, so it looks like he will be staying!

ESSANJAY HEARTBREAKER – 'Shona'

Shona is the friendliest puppy anyone could meet. She loves the world, especially male judges! She is developing into a lovely young lady who we adore very much. We look forward to seeing how she matures.

ESSANJAY FIRE AND ICE – 'Freya'

After 3 years of trying, Freya eventually had a litter. Unfortunately things didn’t go well, with an emergency c-section resulting in the loss of 9 puppies. The one remaining puppy is therefore very precious and much loved.

Ruby has matured into a lovely girl with the temperament to match. She produced 2 puppies in her first litter, sired by Wicani W’Oldsman, who are happily keeping their new owners busy. She is currently rearing her second litter, sired by Ingledene Well Sooted. We look forward to seeing how they develop.
