Breed Notes
18th December

At last our breed has managed an all breeds BEST IN SHOW, all thanks to Our Dogs and their 4th On Line Show and to Dora Richter, who lives in Belgium, for entering. There were a total of 1937 entries, covering all breeds. Judged by Gary Gray (Slatehouse) for the breed/ group and BIS by non other than the KC Chairman, Tony Allcock MBE

Her single entry was Int Ch/BE/NL/Lux Ch Scottlyme I’m Your Man. He is sired by Scottlyme You Got It ex Scottlyme French Kiss). He won BOB and PG 1 from 28 breeds, then the ultimate BIS. Not content with this win, Dora had also entered his Litter sister, Scottlyme French Kiss for Salsina who went on to win BPIB and Pastoral Puppy G4. His sire took the Open class and BVIB whilst his dam took a good 5th place with Dora’s grandson, Wout handling in that section.

Dora herself has been involved with Collies for some 35 years and writes what a lovely way to end a strange year by participating in an “On-Line” show, as like us, she was unable to attend proper shows – Well done Dora, we look forward to seeing all the photos in OD later this year.

More good news follows as we have just heard that Midland Collie have received KC permission to hold their Ch show on 7th August at a new venue, Edingale Village Hall, near Tamworth, all details remain as the published show on 6th Feb and moiré details are available at the MCC web site.

Another sad report includes another of our wonderful Collies who is now up on Rainbow Bridge. Patsy, but to give her a full title, Ch Samhaven Champers for Angelfield was born 26TH July 2009, bred by Alison Grainger and owned by Gwen & Geoff who took the decision to save her from further suffering – this is always one of the hardest decisions, we as owners have to do.

Patsy was sired by Ch Samhaven Toast Marster out of Samhaven Cristal, a daughter of Ch Samhaven Cheers. She came to live at Angelfield and started an illustrious show career which included a first CC in 2012 from Sandra Wigglesworth at Bournemouth, followed by her 2nd at Richmond from Sigurd Wilberg. In 2013 she attended the British Collie of The Year Event and annexed the overall winner’s title. Her 3rd CC came at British Collie in 2013 from Judith Koroz-Papp.

She made an interesting journey abroad, to be mated to Int Ch Rydeen Blaze of Glory and produced some great winners in this litter with the CC winning Angelfield Frankel, his sister, Ch Angelfield Verve Cliqot, who also won the BCOTY title in 2016 and her litter brother, the late Ch Angelfield Heaven Can Wait (Elvis) also took Best Male at the same event and was 3rd overall winner.

Finally news in, but yet to be confirmed that Belfast Ch Show is having to change from its September date in 2021 to a new date in October, I have yet to hear if this will affect the Irish Collie Club who normally hold their show the day before Belfast and already have KC permission to hold 2 Ch shows on the same day. More to follow – watch this space.
