Quite a busy weekend for some as there were 2 Club Open shows. Northumberland & Durham under the guidance of Secretary Jill Oliver, who schedule only Roughs and Yorkshire Collie with Chris Biggs in charge, who schedule both Rough and Smooth Classes.
Firstly on Saturday, Northumberland & Durham held their show with Michelle Davis (Rosschell) judging. If you recall she recently judged the London Collie Open show in September.
There was an entry of 30 on paper but many thanks to Jill Oliver, who sent down the marked catalogue, I can tell you that on the day, there were 10 males and 12 bitches present but according to all presernt a great happy atmosphere prevailed especially amongst the winners.
Best dog was Corisian French Connection JW, owned by Jo Brooker. He won Limit with RBD going to the tricolour Norska de Remember Our Love for Starlenga (Imp Fra) owned by Gary and Margo Walker and Louise (Bartolo) Ritchie and shown by Louise.
Winning MPD on his show debut was Anne Hassock and Camanna Crimescean, a sable but was beaten for BPIS by the bitch puppy, Starlenga All About Me, a tricolour, another from the Starlenga kennel.
Bitches were headed by yet another from the Starlenga kennel, Chantique Cinderella at Starlenga with Daphne Iley and Call Me A Dreamer In Blue for Ileyda Verde Scozia JW (Imp Italy) taking RBB
Although Veteran Classes are scheduled here, there were no entries for the dogs and both Veteran ladies stayed home.
BIS went to Chantique Cinderella at Starlenga with RBIS & BOSIS to Corisian French Connection.
Now to Yorkshire, who had Alyson Rae (Paridel) for Roughs, Amelia Kinsey (Sturtmoor) who judged both the Smooths and SAC classes with Mary Glover-Guest (Doonelodge) BIS.
The entry was 45 Roughs for Alyson, and according to the results, there were just 2 males absent from 17 entered. Alyson also judged at Ayrshire CC in 2016. Her choice for Best Dog was Miranda and Corydon Pol Roger, fresh from a great win at Ely where he brought home £20 for 3rd in a stakes class under , BPIB and another £5cash win and to end the day Pastoral Puppy G2
He was also Best Puppy Dog with Roughrigg Rag’n’Bone Man taking Reserve BD and reserve puppy dog was Roger’s brother, Corydon Dom Perignon.
Bitches had 6 marked absent from 23 and the same two bitches taking top awards, as the previous day but in a different order. Daphne Iley and her blue, Call Me A Dreamer In Blue for Ileyda Verde Scozia JW (Imp Italy) going BB and Chantique Cinderella at Starlenga taking RBB
BPB was a repeat of N&D, with Starlenga All About Me and Julie Edwards and Elshajo Adored in reserve.
Again, no veteran males were entered but Lynda Boyle’s Uffspring Unchained Melody Over Barrenclough was the only lady present, so took BVIB
SAC class winners were: Corydon Cristal, Blamorder Sunny Sky (Smooth) and Lynmack Starman.
Smooth winners were: BOB Blamorder Sunny Sky, BP& BD to Shandlmain Scout, with Ch Manordeifi Satin Doll of Koczkodan taking BVIB.
With all major awards held over until the end, made a long day, but Mary Glover-Guest chose Daphne Iley’s blue for BIS, and Miranda’s blue for BPIS
Sadly I have to report another goodbye to a wonderful companion, namely Ch Buebezi Belle Mystic at Cathyja. A blue merle, born in January 2006, she had just celebrated her 14th birthday. Sired by Narwick Silver Blue de Cathyja out of Ch Silvermooor’s Black Opal at Buebezi. Bred in France by Catherine & Jacques Ragueneau she came over to live with the late Kate Little and started her show career.
Her 1st CC came at L&P from Dave Weller in 2009, a 2nd at British from Gwen Hartley in 2012 and her title from Viv Anderton at the CA with a 4th CC and BOB at Crufts in 2013 from Christine Collins.
As Kate’s illness progressed, Mysty came to live with and was adored by Sue Howard who would like to thank everyone for their kind comments on her loss.
