Breed Notes
19th February

Many apologies for the lack of content in these notes but to say last week was a bad week was an understatement!
Firstly my husband was taken into hospital at 5.30am on Monday with a bad reaction to some Anti-Biotic but I am pleased to say he is now home and on the mend. Then the Rest home, where Aileen is staying rang to inform me that one patient had returned from our local hospital with Covid and all contact was stopped. I am just hoping all will be well with everyone not only there but to many of my friends whose loved ones have contracted Covid.  I am so pleased that so many of us are now getting our first jabs and hopefully things will improve.

Then the weather did it’s best to upset many of us, we were lucky as we did not see snow, as many of you did but the temperatures dropped and dropped. Meanwhile our central heating pump decided to die, leaving us with no heat or hot water. Despite having added insurance to cover, have you ever tried getting hold of the Emergency lines? – If I heard “Your call is important to us” once I would currently be a millionaire – being on hold for the KC is easy peasy compared to locating these people.

From 8am Tuesday morning, in fact, I don’t think I have ever been as cold in my life – and the temperatures kept falling with my temper and composure (lack of of) rising. Eventually we had a young man who arrived on Friday evening, late, who managed to replace the pump and get us a very temporary fix until replacement items, including pipes and other plumbing equipment is sorted early this week. Just keep you fingers and toes crossed for higher temperatures please.

Meanwhile, I hope many of you will have been able to access some of the very interesting articles produced for the AICSS All Ireland Collie & Sheepdog Society Facebook pages. If not, go and have a look, you may find something of interest or to make you smile there, under the heading Collie Chat – The Staying Connected Collection. Devised by the Officers and Committee, over the past week new articles have been added with subjects covering Mating, Tube Feeding, Buying a Collie puppy, Growing Up with Collies, Grooming and many more from some interesting contributors.

Back to our KC, who are still struggling to get their new website, user friendly, what a time to make changes when all anyone needs in life is stability and access to as much information as possible!

A recent Press Release, confirms that there will be no changes to the Kennel Club Stud Book Bands for 2021 and that bands will remain as 2020! This applies to all shows (what do they know that we do not?) until 31st December 2021 and will be reviewed at the end of this year.

The reasoning behind this is due to cancellations of the vast majority of 2020 shows, therefore there is in-sufficient, up-to date entry statistics available.
