Breed Notes Derek Allsopp was our judge at Nat Wkg & Pastoral Breeds, where it was very warm under the shadow of the Malvern Hills, Derek has the Sandmel affix and last judged at Wkg & Pastoral Breeds of Wales in 2016 but is seen more in a stewarding capacity at most of the general Ch shows. He had drawn a nice entry of comprising of 37 dogs with 6 missing and 45 bitches with 10 missing. In both sexes the lower classes were poor, with 10 males covering 6 classes with no entries in Graduate dog. Bitches were similar with 12 over 4 classes and no junior ladies. Perhaps this is the “knock-on” effect of Covid and lockdown. By contrast, in both sexes, 24 males in PG/L and Open and for the ladies, 29 in the same classes. There was a mixed veteran class, which had 2 dogs and 2 bitches entered. Dog CC, his 2nd was Tom, owned by Dave & Sue Randall, Ladnar Mustriharder, following on from his win at the recent East of England show, where details of his breeding were given and taking another RCC was the Open Winner, Jive, Int Ch Jugband Blues du Close de Seawind via Aaronwell,(Imp Fra) owned by John Congdon, whose details were also given following his win at LCC Best Puppy was contested between Alfsden Endless Night who was alone in MP. He is owned by Jan Milligan and sired by the CC winning dog out of Ladnar Trust In Me for Alfsden) and Jards Ring Presence (Ch Corydon The Ringleader ex Ingledene Ebony Lace at Jards) who also stood alone in Puppy for Janine Hanson. Jo White took Yearling with her blue, Camanna Chasingclouds Over Mejola whilst Alfsden He Lives In You took Novice; both breeding details have been reported previously. There were no entries in Graduate, but Tom won PG for Dave and Sue. Limit was a nice win for Eleri Bluck with her blue Phreelancer Chill Factor (Multi Ch Extraordinary Blu di Cambiano ex Phreelancer Phaith Hill and bred by Lene Newman. The mixed veteran class was won by Pelido David Weir for the Wrights; his breeding was also given recently. Now to the ladies: Melissa Lockyer won MP with Gataj Good Time Girl (Perfect Timing du Clos de Seawind – the catalogue shows her as having the same dam as Gataj Take It On The Run, so maybe an error on the entry! And she also won Novice. With No junior bitches, the next class, Yearling, was won by Barrenclough Touch of Silk for Dr Lynda Boyle. Sired by Barrenclough Diamond Days JW out of Barrenclough Touch of Thyme. A nice graduate class win for Monica Wells and her Amalie Just Annie at Terelimon, she is a sable by Ch Amalie Lynmead Live In Lover out of Black’n’Sassy with Amalie and was born in June 2019. Limit was headed by Nellie, or as we officially know her, Saganan Blue Diamond JW, handled by Gwen Beadon, she is a blue merle, by Ch Ingledene Spirits Arise out of Saganan Lady True Blue, bred by Cate Arrowsmith and owned jointly by Cate and Gwen. Monika Bardos had the pleasure of hearing that John Tipper won Open with her multi-titled, Hun Ch Tiganlea Make Good Time, known as Aerial at home whose details were given following her CC win at East of England, The BCC and BOB went to Nellie and Gwen, her 2nd, with Aerial taking the RCC for Monika. BPIB fell to John Congdon and his Fridens puppy bitch. After a long hot wait, Gwen and Nellie went into the Pastoral Group, judged by Meg Purnell-Carpenter and were short-listed.
