Breed Notes
12th August 2022

Another busy weekend for some as we had 2 shows, one on Friday at Paignton, followed by another
on the Sunday for EACA.
Starting at Westpoint, near Exeter, Duna Jones was centre stage for her entry. Duna who has the
Erjon kennel, now in joint partnership with grandson Josh last judged at Border Union in 2018 and is
one of our more established judges. Today, a year from taking his first CC, Alison Grainger and Ch
Samhaven Ballahanna Banjo annexed their 8 th CC. A recent winner at NWPDS, his details was
published there. He won the Open class. Winning Limit was Tiganlea Task Master at Trenic, now in
the ownership of his breeders, John and Caroline Tipper, who were delighted with this result, and
others on the day, rang to let me know. Thank you so much. This blue merle, by Ch Tiganlea Tone
Down is out of Tiganlea Twinkling Star and adds this to his previous CC & RCC.
Other class winners included from Italy, Emanuela Licini and Keyline Unforgettable who won both
MP and PD. Melissa won Yearling with Gataj Out of The Woods. John & Caroline won Novice with
Arty (Amalunaque Arcturis Wind at Tiganlea. PG went to another Gataj, but not owned by Melissa,
the name is Valerie Andrews who is the “other half” of Steve Broadhead who handled but he was
alone in his class. I actually think his correct name should be Gataj Take It On the Run and not as
published.
A lovely message from Di Ware, who lives just 10 minutes from the show ground to let me know
what a great day she had by showing her Wassail Call The Midwife, who was a “lockdown pup” and
has hardly been out but today she took her 1 st CC, from Graduate. This must have been the tonic she
deserved having had a rather traumatic few days with husband Reg who has recently been in
hospital but is now back home and actually, along with their daughter saw the event. This must have
been wonderful news for all concerned. She is a sable, by Stonehaven Pride Golden Touch at Salsina
out of Di’s tricolour, Kind of Magic Della Buca Delle Fate At Wassail and she was born April 2020.
Winning the RBCC and BVIB was Ch Ladnar Inkheart, who details I am sure you all know by now and
a lovely message from Sue confirmed that they stayed for the group judged by Becky Johnson and
did get “short-listed” but only arrived home at 11.30pm that night!
Other class winners were Sophie Wray-Ramsden with Takhisis Lady of Mystery who won not only
MP, but BPIB and stayed for the puppy group but did not feature but did come home with a new
“toy” for her efforts and another whose late arrival 3am does really make one wonder about the
timings for groups as it always seems to me that Pastoral is always the last be be judged, and
subsequently and later both puppies and veterans if scheduled.
Back to the show, Keyline Unchained Melody won Puppy for Emanuela Licini. Melissa took Junior
with Shining Star du Clos de Sea-Wind at Gataj and Emanuela handled Robert Stoppini’s Lara Croft of
Emiber to win Yearling. Christine Collins took Novice with her sable Triburle Seren Dios whilst
Melissa won another class with Riverside Song Eclipse for Gataj. Dam of the MP, Takhisis Lady of
Illusions won Limit and John and Caroline won their KCSB and Open with Revdvicki Black Diamond at
Tiganlea. Sue & Dave won VB with Eve.
I understand a resounding chorus of Happy Birthday, along with a celebratory cake was held after
judging to honour the 70 th birthday of John Congdon, who had quite a good day in the ring taking
home a couple of placings with his 2 boys.
Now to another CC show, East Anglian CA held at Littleport, the judges were Jenny Miller (Feorlig)
awarding CC’s to us for the first time over the males.

Just a comment, we have already had a good half dozen new judges awarding CC’s to us so far this
year, and looking at the forthcoming shows, there are roughly a similar number to come and so
many in the “pipe-line” waiting for approvals!
Judging both bitches and Smooth Collies was well known breed specialist, Ulla-Berg Persson
(Bermarks). Ulla has previously judged here in the UK, at both CA and Ayrshire Collie in 2011 and
2002 respectively. She was due to judge here at EACA but when lockdown/Covid struck, obviously
had to cancel. SAC classes were judged by Hayden Feetham and BIS Brian Hull, Lizmark who is
President of EACA.
Judging started on time but had to be paused due to an accident to Pat Lister (Newarp) who had a
rather nasty fall and required an ambulance to take her to Kings Lynn Hospital with a shoulder injury.
We wish her well. However, as she had come with both husband Ken and a few dogs, arrangements
had to be made to locate her daughter, who was attending a local fun dog show. Thanks to Hazel
Allsopp, who knew the secretary of the fun dog show organiser, her daughter was located and Ken,
along with the dogs were taken back home.
Back to the judging, and the first class was VD with Lenosann Midnight Rascal (Kourika Kosmic
Kowboy ex Lanlin Wolves Wonder) owned by Dee & Samantha Vogan won this. MP went to John &
Caroline with their tri boy (who I think is yet to be beaten in his class). Puppy winner was Keyline
Unforgettable (Keyline Quasar ex Black Diamond Dell’isola dei Collies) for Emanuela Licini who had
been 3 rd in MP.
Jo White won Junior with another tri, Phreelancer Phederal Agent (Ingledene Well Sooted ex
Sunwind’s Snow Candy of Phreelancer). Takhisis Lysander, who had been 2 nd in Junior, won Novice
for Michelle Chaplin. Yearling went to Alfsden He Lives In You (Ch Ladnar Mustriharder ex Ladnar
Trust In Me for Alfsden) for Jan Milligan and Nigel Marley, beating the junior winner. Post grad went
to Gwen Beadon, with her tricolour, Hecktor, officially known as Marvalan Spirit Of Rock, whose
details were published recently. Jo White won Mid Limit with her blue, Camanna Chasingclouds Over
Mejola (Ch Erjon Ebony Joker ex Camanna Coolrain). Hazel Allsopp, having done her good deed for
the day, was rewarded with the Limit class with her tricolour; Aqualita It’s a Miracle (Aqualita Dr No
ex Aqualita Lady of The Lake). Open went to Valerie Geddes and Ingledene Fantasy of Blu. A
Champion dog class was also scheduled and winning this was yet another tricolour, Ch Ladnar
Mustriharder for Dave & Sue Randall.
Now to the CC, and to great applause, this went to Gwen and Hecktor, bred in Poland by Martyna
Nowakowska, he is sired by Pol Ch Marvalan Dream Defender out of Pol Ch Marvalan Black Diamond
for Daccaria. He has an interesting pedigree containing some well known roughs including Karava,
Wicani, Eilroy, Brilyn and Rickwood. This is his first CC and it was not long before news reached his
breeder. Taking the RDCC was the blue of Val & John Geddes, Ingledene Fantasy of Blu. BPD to John
& Caroline and BVD to Dee & Samantha.
Ulla judged Smooths and Roughs, and found her Veteran Class winner in Ch Ladnar Inkheart JW
(dam of the VD winner). Chelborn Gambler’s Wish won MP for Vanessa Cronk (Int Ch & UK Ch
Skabona The Gambler at Chelborn ex Chelborn Wish List). Stefani and Saffi (Serenlas Pumpkin Spice)
won another puppy class. Junior went to Lara Croft of Emiber, owned by Roberto Stoppini and
handled by Emanuela Licini (Keyline Quasar ex Enchantix Queen Bloom of Emiber). Novice went to
Serenlas Pumpkin Spice and Yearling to Norma Larkin and Rahlissa Toffee Cake for Denora (Born To
Be Your Quite Famous ex Riverside Song Extra Sweet at Rahlissa). Tudorlyn A Kind Of Magic won PG
for Linda Philpin (Ladnar Moondust ex Sassari Snow Shimmer for Tudorlyn JW). Nigel Marley and Jan

Milligan took Mid Limit with Ladnar Trust In Me for Alfsden ( Ladnar Moondust ex Fata Turchina
Ladnar di Cambiano) Stacey Steven and Brook, aka Cambrogan Blowin A Hoolie won Limit (Cariadhaf
Crazy Dream ex Cariadhaf Cookies and Cream for Cambrogan. Open bitch went to John & Carline
with their Revdvicki Black Diamond at Tiganlea, repeating her win from Paignton. She is sired by Ch
Tiganlea Tone Down out of Erjon Esme at Revdvicki.
Three Ch ladies were entered in the Ch Class and winning this was Ch Beldones La Vita Bella for
Hanvale JW. 1 Sired by Honky Tonk Man of River Tweed out of Heather Lockyear du Clos De Sea-Wind
and owned by Hannah & Simon Walder.
Bitch CC, her 5 th went to Hannah & Simon from the Ch class and Nellie, (who was 2 nd in the Ch class)
is in the ownership of Kate Arrowsmith and Gwen Beadon and took the RBCC. Officially known as Ch
Saganan Blue Diamond JW, she is sired by Ch Ingledene Spirits Arise JW out of Saganan Lady True
Blue. BPB fell to Vanessa and her MP, Chelborn Gambler’s Wish and BVB to Ch Ladnar Inkheart JW.
BOB rough went to Hannah, with Gwen taking not only RBOB with Nellie, but also BOSIB with
Hecktor. Best puppy to John and Caroline’s tri baby, who was also BMPIB. Dave and Sue challenged
each other for BVIB with the bitch winning.
BIS also went to Hannah, Nellie to RBIS; Hecktor took RBOSIS, John & Caroline with Arty took BPIS.
RBPIS went to the smooth. BVIS was the rough bitch, with the smooth RBVIS.
SAC class winners judged by Co-opted Committee Member, Hayden Feetham, and had the following
class winners: Puppy D/B Luminous Moon over Lenosann for Dee & Samantha Vogan. PG D/B to
Tudorlyn A Kind of Magic for Linda Philpin and Ch Ladnar Mustriharder won Open for Dave & Sue
Randall.

We wish her well. However, as she had come with both husband Ken and a few dogs, arrangements had to be made to locate her daughter, who was attending a local fun dog show. Thanks to Hazel Allsopp, who knew the secretary of the fun dog show organiser and the power of “social media” , her daughter was located and Ken, along with the dogs were taken back home and I can report, via Miranda that she has a fracture between her right elbow and shoulder but she will be sorted soon and to make the day better, EACA received an “Excellent Rating” for the show.

Bitch CC, her 5th went to Hannah & Simon from the Ch class and Nellie, in the ownership of Kate Arrowsmith and Gwen Beadon, who had been 2nd in the Ch class, took the RBCC. Officially known as Ch Saganan Blue Diamond JW, she is sired by Ch Ingledene Spirits Arise JW out of Saganan Lady True Blue and obvious to many she really enjoyed being back in the ring following a break of nearly a year. BPB fell to Vanessa and her MP, Chelborn Gambler’s Wish and BVB to Ch Ladnar Inkheart JW.
Now to BOB, this went to Hannah and her sable, who challenged Gwen and her tri boy. For RBIS, Nellie was required, so a replacement handler was organised in the form of Hannah, who then piloted Ch Saganan Blue Diamond to RBOB under the guidance of Brian Hull to decided BOB rough. How often, perhaps only at Club shows, does one person handle both BIS and RBIS dogs! Well done Hannah (and of course all the dogs)
Dave & Sue challenged each other for BVIB which fell to Ch Inkheart.
Then on to BIS, where Hannah had to compete against the smooth, and again came out tops with Nellie taking RBIS and Hecktor taking BOSIS, so a car full of rosettes came back to Northampton for Gwen, who no doubt let co-owner Cate know. Thanks Gwen for filling me in on some of the details of the day. Nice to hear and see a photo of the fairly new BIS Trophy, presented by Barbara Lindsey, donated in memory of her founder member parents, Arthur & Muriel.
SAC class winners judged by Co-opted Committee Member, Hayden Feetham, and had the following class winners:  Puppy D/B Luminous Moon over Lenosann for Dee & Samantha Vogan. PG D/B to Tudorlyn A Kind of Magic for Linda Philpin and Ch Ladnar Mustriharder won Open for Dave & Sue Randall.
Jenny Miller also judged the Barbara Blake Memorial Stakes class with 15 entered and taking home first place was Thistlewing Spell on You for Brenda Welsh winning not only a very special rosette, presented by John Blake but a cash prize of £25.
