COLLIELIFE ONLINE PHOTO COMPETITION 2022
IN AID OF CURE4DM

DEAR ALL, I personally wanted to write to say a very big Thank You to all who participated in the recent 'Photo Competition' to raise funds for Cure4DM and the UK DM Fundraisers. The amount raised by you all was amazing. This donation will be used to support UK owners of dogs with DM with carts and other mobility aids for their journey throughout the insidious disease of Degenerative Myelopathy, also to create greater awareness about DM to UK dog owners and the general public, it will also go towards research to help find treatments to slow or halt DM and eventually we all hope, for a Cure for DM.

I was honoured to be invited to judge 'Best In Show' for the competition, and I have to say what an incredibly difficult task this has been as for the past week or so. My inbox has been flooded with the most gorgeous photos of all your dogs. On a positive note, it bought smiles to my face every day, which is good, but I knew the task of choosing the winners would not be easy. In the end, I had to make decisions, based on my own gut feelings, but it still wasn't easy, as all our dogs are winners in so many ways.

Again, thank you so much to all of you, entrants - owners and the beautiful dogs - Julie Growcott and to 'Collie Life' for your support.

Julie will shortly be receiving an official Cure4dm receipt and I will be posting a Donation T

hank you in the UK DM Fundraiser group, that you are all welcome to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKDMFUNDRAISERS

Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a progressively degenerative disease of the spinal cord which causes hind limb weakness, lameness and eventual paralysis. The precise cause of degenerative myelopathy is unknown but we can now do DNA tests prior to mating to test for the status of stud dogs and bitches.

I wanted to do something not only in Tei's memory but in the memory of all the other dogs who's lives have been taken short by this dreadful disease.
