Ross, Ch Dark Motif from Misstoff AW(G), had his first KC agility competition in autumn 2002 and he won Elementary Agility (now Grade 1) in a class of over 100. It was difficult before the grade system as, once out of Starters (now grade 2) and into Novice, we had to compete against higher level dogs in Intermediate.
He really enjoyed agility and we travelled widely to shows.
In Dec 2004 he was the first Smooth Collie to gain the Agility Warrant, shortly after it was available.
When the scheme was extended to offer Silver and Gold AWs he worked for those too, becoming the first show Champion in any breed to also hold any level of AW. When the grade system came in (2007) his successes of the previous year moved him straight into Grade 5. He was also an ABC finalist (2008) and did a lovely clear round in the finals at Newton Heath. Sadly ill health meant he retired from full height agility later that year, but enjoyed the lower Anysize classes for quite a while after that.
