SPECIAL AWARD CLASSES – JUDGE AMELIA KINSEY (STURTMOOR)

I would like to start by thanking the committee for the invitation to judge the special award classes below.  I thoroughly enjoyed my day but found very different types present. 

The heat definitely took its toll on some and movement could be very erratic on some of the lower placings and the bitches seem to cope with the heat better than the dogs.  Ear placement was difficult at times due to the windy conditions but on the whole very pleased with the entries received.  Shame due to some confusion on entries for the specials that 3 dogs couldn’t come under me on the day.    Luckily there was shade available while the dogs were waiting which made it a little more pleasant for them rather than standing in the heat. Thanks to everyone for their entries.

Spec Award Puppy Dog or Bitch – Entries 0

Special Award – Post Graduate Dog or Bitch - Entries 3

1st Plaisance Blue Belle- (Mrs J Sweeney), 2 ½ year old Blue merle bitch with clear and evenly marked colour on the whole. Lovely breed type, super head with pleasing eye shape and dark eye with ear set to compliment it.  Lovely lay of shoulder with correct fore chest and length of upper arm and foreleg going into good strong pasterns, lovely length of loin and level topline standing and on the move.  Hindquarters were balanced with correct angulations and muscled well.  Moved extremely well and very light on her feet but still with drive.

2nd Blamorder Back in Town – (Mr G & Mrs M Brown), 2 ½ year old tri bitch with plenty to offer but feeling the heat a little on the day.  Lovely head shape with feminine expression and dark eye. Ears placed well and used them when asked.  Lovely length of neck and good shoulders but topline not quite as firm as 1st.  When settled moved well and true coming and going. Very much like everything about her but just pipped to the post today.

Special Award – Open Dog or Bitch – Entries 8 (1 Absent)

1st   Blamorder Back to the start for Saraneth (Miss A Peacock), 2 ½ Tricolour.  Love this girl and was pleased to finally be able to go over her.  Feminine head with correct planes, correct shaped and dark eye.  Ears well set and finished her fabulous expression.  Good neck into excellent shoulders into correct coupling and this made free and easy movement on the front and rear.  Well-muscled with good second thigh, angulation not over exaggerated and going down into strong pasterns and tight feet. Pleased to award her the class.

2nd Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle (Mrs M Benton), 7 year old Blue merle bitch who doesn’t show her age at all.  Lovely clear blue but would prefer slightly more evenly marked.  Good dark eye but finer in head than 1st.  Good lay of shoulder into tight elbows. Correct spring of rib and length of loin. Well angulated and strong quarters.  Moves with drive and elegant to watch.
