Rough Collies

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge today, and to my well organised, friendly
stewards in the ring.

The busy, noisy venue meant a few were reluctant to use their ears today despite their handlers best
efforts. Presentation was good for the most part, but a couple of mouths would benefit from a good
teeth clean.

A special thank you to the exhibitors who entered, your support is very much appreciated.

1st SIMPSON’S IRRESISTIBLE REVERIE OF THE WINDY LANDS FOR GAELDOM (IMP SVN)
16 month old tri bitch. Presented in immaculate condition, well fitted jet black coat with
gleaming whites. Pleasing outline viewed in profile when stood, good length of back and nicely
angulated to the rear. Today she was very unsettled in the hall and reluctant to use her ears,
but they were correctly set and of acceptable size. Sweet feminine expression, which would
have been accentuated with use of her ears, dark obliquely set eye and clean wedge head.
Light on her feet on the move, moved OK considering her dislike of the venue.

1st MILLIGAN & MARLEY’S LADNAR TRUST IN ME FOR ALFSDEN
21 month old blue bitch. Still in her summer dress, there was no hiding her lovely shape. Clean
wedge head, with correctly proportioned parallel planes, soft feminine expression. She too
was a little reluctant to use her ears, but did so (very) briefly with some persuasion. Excellent
overall balance, good length of back to height, nice rise over the loin to a well angulated rear
which gave good drive and made her my best moving exhibit on the day, holding a level topline
as she went. BOB

1st SKINNER’S SAMHAVEN TIME IS MONEY WITH NIKAL
5 year old tricolour bitch, who I have judged before. Rounded foreface and clean wedge head
of good length giving the desired soft expression. Like others today, the ears were not always
forthcoming but did make a brief appearance. Well angulated rear, good bend of stifle. Moved
OK, the slippery floor possibly affecting her rear movement a little today. RBOB

2nd COZENS & BUCKLEY’S BHYLLSACRE SECRET AFFAIR
5 year old sable bitch. In good, dense coat and presented well. Well proportioned when
viewed in profile. Good depth of chest and well laid back shoulder. Nicely sized and shaped
eye. Moved OK. I just preferred the ear placement and carriage of my class winner, which
added to a softer expression.
