Special Award Classes
My thanks to the Secretary and Committee of L & P Collie Club for the kind invitation to judge the Special Award classes at this show and to the exhibitors who kindly allowed me to go over their lovely dogs.
Class A - Smooth Collie - Special Award Puppy Dog or Bitch (2)
1. Howard’s Shandlmain’s Sofistikate. This pretty tricolour bitch has a correct wedge-shaped feminine head, slight stop, correct ear carriage and lovely dark eyes. Good front with sloping shoulder and deep chest. Nice length of body and good angulation. Moved very well.
2. Martin & Howard’s Shandlmain’s Shuri with Sturtmoor
A girl with more substance than my class winner. Pleasing alert expression and lovely dark eye. Good front & angulation, correct length of back, neat feet. Moved ok.
Class B - Smooth Collie - Special Award Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (6)
1. Benton’s Oakestelle Artemis. Quality blue merle bitch who I have admired previously from the ringside. Lovely wedge-shaped head, flat skull and correct ear carriage all contributing to an ideal expression. Correct angulation throughout. Moved effortlessly round the ring.
2. Benton’s Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle
Another lovely bitch, this time in tricolour. Love her clean head, bright & alert expression and overall make and shape. Moved very well.
3. Bemelmans’ Oakestelle Asteria
Class C - Smooth Collie - Special Award Open Dog or Bitch (2)
1. Benton’s Oakestelle Venue de Milo
This blue merle bitch does not fail to impress. Her head is very pleasing with a good wedge, parallel head planes of equal length, a kind eye and an alert expression. She has a lovely length of neck leading to a good sloping shoulder. Excellent angulation. Moved out really well.
2. Moores’ Tomalca Buttons’N’Bows at Manordeifi
Sable & white bitch with a correct head and nice expression. Good deep chest and front,
correct angulation . Moved ok.
Class D - Rough Collie - Special Award - Puppy Dog or Bitch

Class E - Rough Collie - Special Award - Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (2)
1. Daley’s Rahlissa Charmaine with Melayla
Sable/white bitch with clean head although a little short in fore face. Moderately small ears, carried correctly. Nice eye. Teeth could be cleaner. Correct length of body, strong hocks and hindquarters. Neat feet. Moved soundly although was a little sluggish, possibly as a result of the heat.
2. Lyall’s Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas
I liked the head on this sable bitch although her ears are a little light. Good flat skull and head planes of equal length. Nice dark eyes. Her body lacks substance, being quite narrow in front and she needs more bone overall. Moved ok.
Class F - Rough Collie - Special Award - Open Dog or Bitch (3)
- Philpin’s Sassari Snow Shimmer for Tudorlyn JW
Pretty blue merle bitch of good colour. Lovely dark eye and good expression.
Nice front and good deep chest. Moved very well.
2. Skinner’s Samhaven Time is Money with Nikal
Lots to like in this veteran tricolour bitch. Pleasing head and expression. Moved ok.
3. Lyall’s Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas
