Rough Collie dogs

A year late but got there eventually, my heartfelt thanks to the officers and their committee for inviting  me to judge at this prestigious club show.A very well organised show on a difficult day made even more difficult by what must have been the hottest day of the year so far. Many thanks to all the hot and bothered exhibitors and their dogs very well done to all of you.

Minor puppy dog 4(1)
1st Llewellyn’s Red Hot Chilli Pepper Du Clos De Sea- Wind At Salsina (imp fra) Naf Taf
Super sable of 7 months and behaving just like he should having fun , lovely make and shape nice well placed eye just the right amount of stop ears just right.
Well of for bone front and rear angles good for his age and a lovely long tail which he carried well on the move . This boy is just about right for his age.
2nd Collins Triburle Change of Passion Sable boy of just about 6 months at what I assumed to be his first show and looked to be loving it, lovely head with a magical expression and ear carriage good bone and a very nice shape just a baby but in a couple of months I’m sure these two will change places
3rd Bolt and Hollywood’s Amalie Chance to Shine

1st Walker  and Ritchie’s Starlenga Curious George   , Gorgeous sable who definitely has the right name looking everywhere other than where he should making him that much more endearing for me. I loved him from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail .A lovely well balanced head good shape and placement to the eye great ear carriage all combining to give that look at me expression Adequate length and arch to his muscly neck good shoulders , length and height to his body just about right at this stage of his growth very well off for bone nice short hocks all of this covered with a mass of beautifully groomed coat also had lovely neat feet which I love to see . Very well presented loved everything about him and looking forward to seeing this boy as he matures a great future awaits him I’m sure BPD BPIS
2nd Tippers True Hero Although younger than my winner he looked in some respects like he was older , a strong head good firm under jaw pleasing eye and ear good bone all round although he was a little unsettled he moved quite nicely a nice boy who will do well
3rd 2nd in MPD

Junior dog 7(0)
1st Bella and Turner  Chantique Magical Mystery. Quality boy in superb coat lovely “collie “head with that dreamy expression made even better with precisely placed ears. Good  forward reaching muscley neck going down into well laid shoulders adequate length to back and rise over loin turn of stifle as you would expect good bone stood and showed on nice neat feet. Very well presented , won this class on his ability to show off his attributes of which he has many and his willingness to move when asked.
2nd Hawkins and Foy’s Beldones Toucher Du Bois. I “touched wood” before I left home as I always do what a coincidence, Another lovely looking boy from this kennel which we  have all become quite used to but he was rather unsettled by what I assumed to be the very hot day and the gun shots coming from the shooting club which is virtually next door, that said it didn’t take away his obvious qualities. Of which he has many super head and expression good body shape and adequate bone I am sure he can move better than he did . A lovely boy his day will come
3rd Lockyers Gataj Take it on the Run.           

Novice dog 6(0)
1st Cronk’s Chelborn That’ll Do.  A Super two year old tri colour making the very best of himself, such a smooth clean head lovely eye and expression almost perfect ear carriage well they were perfect actually, nice strong  forward reaching neck good shoulder arrangement length of back just right , good tail carriage  good angles front and rear , over all a lovely shape moving around the ring  very well a real quality male this boy one won the class with a bit to spare . Unfortunately in the challenge he started to flag a little and this cost him dearly maybe it was the heat getting to him but he is going to do well I’m sure RCC
2nd Blake’s Corydon the Grandmaster. Yet another nice sable very well built and eyes only for his handler who never stopped talking to him which I love to see nicely balanced head very pleasing eye and expression good strong neck adequate length to his back over all a very well balanced  dog who was one of the best movers of the day, not overdone with coat just about right I would say 3rd Lockyers Starlenga Elijah Blue at Gataj.   

Graduate dog 6(0)
1st Maxwell and Wallis’s Trenley Toreador.  Very pleasing unexaggerated look about him good balanced head with a firm under  jaw nice expression strong neck good shoulders and length to his body a nicely balanced boy who could move around the ring with ease a very sound dog who will always be there or there abouts.                       
2nd James’s Deanjan Dambuster Another two year old tri looking good with the blackest of coats nicely moulded fore face correct eye and ear placement giving him a nice friendly look very well built all round and this was reflected in his movement                   
3rd 2nd in novice.                                                

Post Graduate Dog 5(0).                                     
Mccann’s Oakland Blue Style Du Clos De Sea Wind at Zolkan(imp fra).  1st My heartbreak boy of the day how I wish there was more of him his is just perfect in every way but needs to be a tad or two bigger, a Merle of the most exquisite colour particularly around the head enhancing a magical expression coming from those lovely almond eyes a lovely size to his ears with a precise amount of tip, a very well built boy everything’s in  proportion just needs to be more of it moving very well keeping his tail down which a few didn’t stood and showed his socks off non stop . Thank you  so much for bringing him.                                                    
2nd Lockyer’s Perfect Timing Du Clos Sea Wind for Gataj (imp fra).  Very nice looking sable moving well considering by now it was very hot and sticky and some were struggling with it , I like this boy quite a lot but he didn’t have the sparkle of 1.                                                          
3rd Congdon’s Starlenga All that Jazz from Aaronwell Taf.                                                       

Mid limit dog 4(0)
1st Mcentee’s Gerian Sundazzle  sable typical of this kennel lovely head and expression ears very well placed.Good archy neck with plenty of muscle, would like to have seen a little more length to his back rear angles quite good as were the front     Moved quite well                     
2nd Mcdevitt and Henderson’s Denfris Discovery at Caronlea (imp rus).  Sable slightly larger type rather unsettled but none the less a nice boy nice shape adequate bone good tail length moving well   
3rd Mills’s Lynmack Starman                              

Limit dog
1st Cronks Culbrae Code Red at Chelborn. Another nice boy from this kennel everything about this boy seemed right until i asked him to move and he just seemed not to want to , his build suggests he should and could move and move well  I am going this was probably again down to the ridiculous heat and a sprinkling of laziness , i had a dog like this myself  having said all that he was still the best dog in the class for me    2nd Hassocks Camana Codename Slightly larger male than 1 and another that was a bit unsettled  quite a nice looking boy movement could have been better. 3rd Lockyer’s Think of Me Prince of Sunlight at Gataj (imp hun ).                                              

Open dog
1st Mcdevitt’s Ch/Int/Ir.Ch Caronlea Lukin Black JNRChJCW15 CW18.  When this boy a 7 year tri colour  walks in the ring he commands attention and so he should looking absolutely immaculate, I think every hair was individually brushed, I had judged this boy before as a youngster and thought then he was going places, he has a nice size not too big not too small, with a head of immense quality no lumps and bumps good smooth moulding around his fore face such a pleasing look in his eyes, his  ears just don’t move absolutely nailed on a very strong muscly neck going into his shoulders, his correct length of back has a good rise over the loin nicely angled at the rear and front good  bone all round not too much not too little good hard muscle all over-this boy must get a lot of exercise all this of course allowing him to power his way around the ring keeping his tail exactly where it should be, his presence was such that he could not be denied . A very nice dog indeed so lovely  to see him again DCC and BVD Unfortunately he became a little unsettled in the challenge for BOB and had to bow the knee to a very very nice bitch.
2nd Congdons Ch/Fr Ch Jugband Blues Du Clos De Sea-Wind  via Aarronwell (imp fra ) Taf      Impressive Merle in good coat lovely head and expression good body shape and plenty of bone didn’t move as well as I thought he was going to but a lovely boy indeed.
3rd Johnston’s Sea Dreamer one and Only (imp NLD).  

Vet dog 5 (0)1st Blaikie’s Ch.Willowdene Double or Quits at Wassail 10 year old tri very well in lovely coat and condition, head nicely proportioned strong well muscled neck good lay of shoulders and length of back really good rear end all allowing to move around the ring very freely in fact he could should some of those half his age a thing or two about round the ring . Judged this boy quite a few years ago and did quite well for him , his years have been good to him well done .  2nd Howard’s Darahill Chaos at Sablemyst Lovely boy sable close on 11 years  and looking very well indeed another vet. In good coat and condition lovely balanced head good overall shape carrying his tail very well but not the movement of 1.                                    
3rd Maxwell and Walliss’s Trenley Tatenen at Hamisks .     

 

Thank you very much to the club for the lovely gift and another thank you all the exhibitors especially to those who I know travelled a long way , going back up north in that heat could not have been easy .
