LKA Championship Show 10 December 2022
Collie (Smooth)
First, I would like to thank the officers and committee of LKA for a most enjoyable day and also my two wonderful stewards who were both so efficient and lovely. Last but not least, thank you to all the exhibitors for their entries and I hope the following will help to explain my placings.
Puppy Dog (3)
1st – Fort & Borgerson’s Shulune Imperial Fantasy – A lovely tricolour baby, just 6 months but showing lots of promise and having such a happy outlook on life, well balanced head although needs to fill a little in foreface which is also a little veiny at present, good ears which he used well, nicely angulated front and back, well developed in body with lovely bone, moved very nicely for his age, narrowly missed out for Best Puppy, I just preferred the head and expression of the bitch puppy
2nd – Warren & Lusty’s Coldelee Jupiter Rises with Blamorder - a well schooled tricolour and standing presents a nice outline, masculine head with good ears and pleasant expression, enough neck, good angulations front and back, good length of back and well boned, moved out well from all angles with good reach and drive
3rd – Bemelmans’ Moseliqa Proudfoot
Junior Dog (3 – 1 absent)
1st – French’s Wynele Dressed To Thrill at Breckamore – masculine and well built tricolour, balanced head with good head planes and a flat skull although I would prefer his skull slightly less strong, well moulded in foreface and he has an appealing expression even if I would prefer a slightly darker eye, strong neck and topline, correct front and rear assembly, lovely forechest, spring of rib and depth of chest, excellent bone, jet black coat in shining condition, moved with reach and drive
2nd – Wensley’s Constella Hazy Cosmic Jive – well made if slightly lighter in substance than the winner, alert and attentive, balanced head but I would prefer a little better moulding in foreface, excellent ears and ear carriage, enough neck, good length of body, spring of rib and depth of chest, moved true from all angles
Post Graduate Dog (3 – 1 absent)
1st – Cowling’s Blamorder Opulence at Himinnsaga – Blue merle who could be a little clearer in colour but a nice type overall, well balanced head with good head planes and well used ears, good foreface, eye a little round, good depth of chest and spring of rib, excellent bone and angulation, adequate neck, moved out well from all angles
2nd – Moore’s Stormsett Shadow Dancer via Caprioara – very masculine and upstanding dog with good overall balance, correct head planes and flat skull, ears a little heavy, well filled in foreface and a pleasant eye, adequate neck, good spring and depth of chest, good length of body and well boned, standing his topline is a little soft, moved with ease and with excellent reach and drive, well handled
Limit Dog (2)
1st – Howard’s Jack Mack’s Va Buidhinn of Shandlmain (Imp) – tricolour in lovely condition and presenting a very pleasant outline, well balanced head with good head planes and a nice tight lipline, good moulding of foreface and pleasant eye, one ear too light, good reach of neck, excellent front and hind angulation, good forechest, spring of rib and depth of chest, strong topline, moved well from all angles
2nd – Flower’s Breckamore Peaky Blinder at Lyndaryn – blue merle with excellent colour and markings and he has lovely proportions overall, well balanced in head, stop slopes slightly and a little fine in foreface, nice eye and expression, good ears, nicely arched neck, a little shallow in forechest, good depth and spring of rib, a little steep in upper arm, otherwise well angulated, moved out well
Open Dog (3)
1st – Naulls’ Ch Wynele Indian Ink – tricolour who exudes quality and overall balance, attractive outline, a very nicely moulded head with flat skull and correct stop, almond shaped and dark eyes giving a very kind expression, good ears which he used well, good length of neck and firm topline, moderately angulated front and back, good forechest, spring of rib and depth of chest, on the move he comes into his own as he goes round the ring with purpose and with good reach and drive, CC BOB and I was pleased to watch him getting shortlisted in the Group
2nd – Hayward’s Ch Foxearth Fletch – blue merle of outstanding quality and breed type, lovely make and shape, a very nicely moulded and clean head with correct stop and flat skull and a very nice tight lipline, most appealing eye and expression, correct angulation front and back, excellent body and bone and moved out very well with reach and drive, unfortunately today he did not appear to enjoy his day out but I could not look past his overall quality, res CC
3rd – Smith’s UK Port Esp Gib Ch Winter Is Coming To Tentola
Veteran Dog or Bitch (1)
1st – Benton’s Ch Oakestelle Venus De Milo VW ShCEx – a very feminine and elegant blue merle with a lovely outline, her head is nicely balanced although a little fine in foreface and her ears are a little light, good reach of neck and strong topline, well angulated front and back, her colour is clear and very well broken with correct amount of marbling, moved freely and easily
Puppy Bitch (2)
1st – Jerrett’s Coldelee Eternal Sunsine – golden sable who has a very nicely moulded, well balanced, clean and feminine head, she has a nicely shaped eye giving a lovely expression, good ears, a little steep in shoulder and upper arm, excellent spring and depth of chest, good length of body, excellent hind angulation, moved correctly from behind and free moving viewed from the side, alert and attentive to her handler, Best Puppy In Breed
2nd – Fort’s Shulune Imperial Inkspell – blue merle baby of just 6 months old and so very well put together, very nicely moulded head, well filled foreface, pleasing eye and good ears, beautifully made with excellent angulation front and back, very well developed in body for her age, a little unsettled on the floor and I just found her white markings reaching beyond her shoulder a little too much but overall a very lovely puppy
Post Graduate Bitch (4 – 1 absent)
1st – Howard’s Shandlmain Sofistikate – tricolour in gleaming coat and condition, appealing outline with good overall balance, well moulded head and pleasant expression, ears a little wide set and eye a little round, excellent spring of rib and depth of chest, well angulated front and back, adequate bone, moved well from all angles
2nd – Brown & Davies’ Breckamore Blessings at Wystry – feminine with balanced head and flat skull, foreface a little fine and head planes could be a little more parallel, pleasant eye and expression, excellent ears, a little shallow in forechest, good depth of chest and length of back, effortless movement
3rd – Bemelmans’ Oakestelle Asteria
Limit Bitch (4 – 1 absent)
1st – Naulls’ Wynele Obsession – tricolour in lovely condition and so sound and well constructed, balanced head with good moulding of foreface, nicely shaped eye and pleasing expression, ears a little light, correct front and hind angulation, well made body and bone, moved out with excellent reach and drive which won her the class
2nd – Sweeney & Lusty’s Blamorder Do Quite Nicely – blue merle who gives a lovely outline standing, slightly shorter in back than the winner but with an attractive shape, very nice head with correct head planes and stop, pleasing eye and good ears, very well put together with good angulation front and back and moved well from all angles
3rd – Benton’s Brackenhaye Queen of Hearts of Oakestelle
Open Bitch (3)
1st – Pletz-Kazantzis & Busby’s Ch Foxearth Fandella – a very feminine, elegant and stylish tricolour, I particularly loved her quite graceful and regal look, balanced head with a nicely moulded foreface, almond shaped eye which was obliquely placed giving her an appealing and almost noble expression, excellent angulation front and back, strong neck and topline, so well developed in body, moved freely and effortlessly, in excellent coat and condition and handled to her advantage, CC and BOS
2nd – Howard’s Brackenhaye Heartbreaker at Shandlmain – solidly built tricolour with lovely construction and in superb condition, slightly bigger than the winner, her head is balanced although I would prefer a better shaped eye and her ears are a little heavy, good reach of neck, firm topline, excellent chest and spring of rib and well angulated front and back, moves out very well with reach and drive and appears capable of a day’s work, res CC
3rd – French’s Foxearth Fabostinta for Breckamore
