Yorkshire Collie Club Open Show 19th February 2023

I would like to thank the committee for my first breed club appointment and to thank my stewards for keeping everything on track. Thank you to all the exhibitors for allowing  me the privilege of going over their dogs. I had a truly enjoyable day with a super entry of some real quality dogs. All dogs were beautifully presented.

Special beginners Dog or Bitch (3 entries, 1 abs)

1st ROSE Miss E, Offspring Ultravox For Coloratura 3 year old Tri bitch. Nice expression with clean wedge, ears a little wide and would like more underjaw. Lots of substance, good length to height ratio.

2nd BOYLE Dr L, Barrenclough Diamond Skies 3 year old Sable male. Sweet eye and well used ears but again ears quite wide, deep in stop. Shorter in neck. Very attentive to handler. Moved OK in parts, not very happy on the floor. 

Veteran Dog (3 entries)

1st COLLINO Miss D, Wicani Altitude At Imaginist 8 years of age Tri of good size. Lovely dark sweet eye, clean wedge with good underjaw, with well set ears, all contributing to a sweet intelligent expression. Muscular neck of fair length into a level topline and correct angulation with neat short rear pasterns giving a pleasing outline. Tail carried correctly. Moved well and steady. BVD

2nd COONEY Mrs B, Ch Jopium Stole My Heart At Lingwell 9 year old Sable. Looking well for his age. Sweet eye, deeper in stop. Shorter in length being of a more compact type but with good substance. Wasn’t happy moving on the floor today and carrying a little too much weight. 

Minor Puppy Dog (1 entries)

1st BLAKE Miss M, Corydon The Barron 7 month sable. Took my eye as he trotted into the ring full of confidence really enjoying his day out. Lovely head on this puppy, blunt wedge, dark eyes well placed and correct ears which he was happy to constantly use. Being picky, eyes just a tad small. Nice length of neck, level topline, good bone and angles front and rear with lovely bend of stifle. Good depth of chest. All contributing to strong positive movement with reach and drive. Look forward to seeing him mature. BPD

Puppy Dog (2 entries)

1st HARVEY Mrs A, Classic Scots Patrick Swayze (Imp.deu) 10 month Blue Merle of good colour with rich tan. Lovely expression on this pleasing head, super underjaw, sweet eye, just the right amount of stop. Stood with impressive outline, showing plenty of substance, strong topline with slight rise over the loin and correct angulation front and rear.. Unfortunately he wasn’t happy on the floor today but did give me glimpses of his reach and drive on the 2nd go round the ring.

2nd DODSWORTH Miss N, Libanel Everlasting Charm. Also 10 months and carrying a jet black coat. Different type to 1st, deeper in stop, nice rounded muzzle but with slight flare. Heavier built, good length to height ratio, deep chest, short in upper arm which impacted on his movement.

1st WELSH Mrs B, Thistlewing Smoky Quarts 3 year old Shaded Sable. Very impressive young man that you could not mistake as all male. Standing with the dignity that a collie should. Clean wedge head with a well filled muzzle, enough underjaw, lovely oblique set dark eye, correct stop, flat skull and well placed ears that he used well. All combined to give a sweet, intelligent expression. Well muscled arched neck of length. Good lay back of shoulder and length of back, plenty of substance and good angles with strong rear quarters. At one with his handler as he moved effortlessly round the ring keeping his topline. BD

2nd WHITE Mrs J, Phreelancer Phederal Agent At Mejola 2 year old Tri Beautifully presented. Correct head qualities with good underjaw, ears slightly wide. Good well arched neck, with level topline. Correct angulation front and rear. Moved well.

1st HARVEY Mrs A, Wicani Invoking Spirit, 4 year old Shaded Sable. Another impressive male with a lovely head, clean wedge with a well filled muzzle, flat skull and sweet oblique dark eyes giving a beautiful expression. Ears well placed and well used. Good forechest and length of back, plenty of substance. Correct angles front and rear, level topline.  Moved round the ring with plenty of reach and drive holding his topline. RBD

2nd LEESE Mrs J, Essanjay Fields Of Gold, 3 year old Shaded Sable. Slightly different to 1st. Nice dark eyes and clean blunt wedge, ears a little wide set. Good substance and deep chest. Neck and length of back slightly shorter. Rear could be stronger.

Open Dog (3 entries 2 absent)

1st BLAKE Miss M, Corydon Pol Roger, 6 year old blue merle with rich tan. Nice clean head, well filled muzzle. Muscular neck well arched neck, deep chest, plenty of substance, strong rear with well let down pasterns. Very balanced. Good fitting coarse coat. Lovely tight feet. Moved well. 

Veteran bitch (6 entries 3 absent)

1st QUINCE Mrs L, Karafaye Black Beauty, 8 year old Tri in super condition. Lovely clean head, well filled muzzle, well placed dark eye, ears carried perfectly, all giving a sweet expression. Good length of neck and forechest. Correct length to height.  Unfortunately age has affected her topline. Beautifully presented. BVB

2nd DODSWORTH Miss N, Libanel Magical Martinque 9 year old sable, finer than 1st but with lovely sweet eyes, ears correct and well used. Slightly more compact than first . Looking well for her age. Moved OK.

Minor Puppy Bitch (3 entries)

1st NEWMAN Mrs L, Ingledene Crystal Vision Of Phreelancer 8 month old Blue Merle beautiful colour with rich tan. Lovely head, everything correct, clean blunt wedge, flat skull with super underjaw. Dark oblique eyes, well placed ears and sweet expression. Plenty of substance, good well muscled neck and good depth of chest. Good length of back.  Very attentive to her handler, shame she a little unsettled today.

2nd COLLINO Miss D, Blamorder Any Dream Will Do, another blue merle of super colour and lovely rich tan. Quite different to 1st but everything still right. Clean blunt wedge, dark eyes well placed, ears right up on top and well used. Expression just not quite as sweet as 1st. She has correct angulation and a lovely outline. She gave me short bursts of good movement but often paced and needs to keep her tail down.

Puppy Bitch (3 entries 1 absent)

1st BLAKE Miss M, Corydon Agatha Cristal, 11 month Tri with jet black coat. Clean head, just enough underjaw. Sweet well placed eyes with lovely expression. Ears constantly used. Correct outline and angulation. Level topline with slight rise over loin. Moved well. BPB

2nd DODSWORTH Miss N, Libanel Everlasting Desire 10 month Blue Merle. Nice head qualities with good underjaw, ears a little wide set. Good substance and nice neck on this young lady but she needs to firm up her muscles to improve her movement. 

Junior Bitch (2 entries)

1st BLAKE Miss M, Corydon Agatha Cristal,

2nd ROSE Miss E, Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura, 12 month Sable. Correct head with sweet expression. Well placed eyes and ears. Good depth of chest. A little bum high at the moment. Movement not as good as 1st.

Maiden Bitch (2 entries)

1st BLAKE Miss M, Corydon Agatha Cristal, 

2nd WELSH Mrs B, Thistlewing Magic lady, 2 year old Sable. Dark eyes, well used ears. Good amount of substance,  slightly shorter in length than 1st, fitted coat. Preferred head and expression on 1st.

Graduate Bitch (5 entries 2 absent)

1st WELSH Mrs B, Ingledene Sno Dream At Thistlewing, 19 month Blue Merle beautiful clear colour. Lovely clean head, correct dark sweet eye, enough stop, balanced head. Lovely length of neck and good outline with level topline outline and a slight rise over the loin.  Strong rear with good turn of stifle. Moved effortlessly round the ring.

2nd WHITE Mrs J, Mejola Main Event, 18 month Sable of rich colour. Slightly different expression but still sweet and with all the right head qualities.Good substance. A little out of coat today but showed off her balanced outline. Good length to height ratio. Very attentive to handler. Moved well.

Post Graduate Bitch. (6 entries 4 absent)

1st QUINCE Mrs L, Thistlewing Celtic Soul For Karafaya, 3 years old Shaded Sable. Another lovely bitch that excels in movement. Beautiful outline, showing off her length of neck, correct angulation,  level topline, slight rise over the loin and plenty of substance. Lovely head with clean well filled wedge, correct stop, sweet eye and well placed correct ears. RBB

1st WHITE Mrs J, Mejola Physical Attraction. 5 year old Tri. Good outline showing all the correct requirements. Lovely expression with sweet dark eye. Constantly used her well placed ears Good length of well muscled neck into well anglulated front. Good topline which she held on the move. Good amount of substance on this lovely lady. Moved with plenty of drive.

Open bitch (3 entries 1 absent)

1st NEWMAN Mrs L, Phreelancer Phormal Dress 2 year old Shaded Sable. This lovely feminine young lady has a beautiful expression, sweet and intelligent, everything is balanced. Clean well filled wedge, oblique dark eyes, correct ears well used. Lovely well arched muscular neck. Good depth of chest, lovely length, correct angles front and rear with well bent stifle, well let down hocks and enough substance. Level topline with slight rise over the loin all combined to give a super outline and effortless movement, best mover of the day. BB Pleased to give her BOB and very happy to see her awarded BIS 

2nd ROSS Mrs Y. , 5 year old Tri. Quite different to 1st, much deeper in head and stop, ears wider set but well used. Shorter in body making her more compact, has plenty of substance.Good colour. Well Presented
