The British Collie Club Championship Show

Judge: Rough Collie Dogs Mrs J Margetts (Collingvale)

Thank you to British Collie for inviting me to judge at their show and to my two Stewards Shelley Skinner and Gill Whittaker for their help in the smooth running of the ring. I was very happy to see some promising male puppies appear in both classes and a lovely depth of quality in the other classes on the day.  There were a few high tails, a good few with a lack of muscle tone which does not help movement fore and aft, temperaments were good  as was presentation in all exhibits.
Thank you for your entries I enjoyed my day and the sporting way my  placings and top awards were accepted.

Minor Puppy Dog 5 Entries
1st Scotts Chantique Will O The Whisp
Just 6 months but showing so much promise.  Delightful character and behaved so well.  His head handles very well for his age and lovely eye placement, ear set and correct stop together give a very sweet expression, has a lovely reach of neck and a huge white collar that make him look a bit short in back having hands on he has good height to length ratio, well balanced and  at this stage he is very together showed and moved well with a low tail carriage.  One for the future I think .
2nd Thorne Chelborn Look At Me
8 month old Blue of good colour and  showing himself to advantage and very balanced for his age. Clean in head, good ear carriage and dark eye giving a pleasing expression, needs a bit more maturity in head but this will come as he develops,  lovely reach of neck , good front and rear angulation and  length of back on the move he went well sound for and aft with low tail carriage.

1st Lockyer Gataj Just Like Jesse James
Beautifully present s/w when standing  showed off his many virtues.  On going over him he has a refined head and sweet expression , moulded forface clean in stop and ears always on top, lovely dark eye correct placement giving the desired expression. Has a good make and shape about him ample neck and length of back all in proportion, has good bone and substance and bend of stifle, moved out keeping his topline with a good stride and confidence and low set tail .  Delighted to award him BP dog and to see him go on to BPIB/BPIS another one with a solid future .
2. Tipper Tiganlea Thumb A Ride
This lad does not help himself on standing presents a lovely profile picture, has good make, shape and substance about him.  Masculine in head which  handles well nicely moulded muzzle and good stop , he is not over enthusiastic about showing his ears which could be a tad tighter set ,  but when he does has a lovely expression. Moved out soundly with a good stride and low tail carriage.

1st Lockyer  Gataj I Got You Babe
10 months old s/w Masculine in appearance with good bone and substance  but without any coarseness . Head handles well, showed all the time with well set eye and ear placement giving sweet expression. Would prefer a little more reach of neck, has a decent length of back and good bend of stifle.  Moved out freely although a tad close behind, nicely handled.

1st Brooker Jopium Just For You Corisian
3rd in Minor Puppy, 6 months of great character enjoying his day out, full of exuberance making his handler work had.  Head handles well for his age,  moulded forface, clean in stop and ears on top giving pleasing expression. Nice make and shape to him , good bone and substance , bend of stifle , rather unsettled on the move today .

1st Ross Samshernik Majestic Boy
Standing presents a pleasing picture, head handles nicely, sweet eye and expression and used his ears well.  Overall nicely made but would prefer a bit more neck and length of body,  moved out soundly but a tad close behind.  In good coat and condition and well handled.

1st Randall Ladnar Call My Name JW
An upstanding beautifully coloured blue  that draws your attention as he stands and shows himself off so well in complete harmony with his handler.  No mistaking his sex , has a masculine head with a dark well set eye and  expression, well moulded forface, correct stop , could have used his ears a little more.  Very well made throughout with good angles fore and aft which showed in his steady and sound  movement.
2nd Lockyer Gataj I Am Maximus
Slightly smaller tri, head handles well nicely moulded with  sweet eye and expression, would prefer  more neck to complete the picture, and a bit more of him all over,  ample bone and substance, gleaming black coat in good condition moved out ok with a low set tail.

1st Turner Paulara Blaze of Glory
On seeing this s/w come into the ring  he just commanded attention from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail… His head is just lovely no coarseness and so well moulded with a good underjaw,  clean in stop, wonderful dark eye and placement with neat ears that he used all the time  giving a truly lovely expression  but still masculine.  On standing his outline shows off his wonderful reach of neck with good angles front and rear, depth of chest and  length of back, sweep over the loin bend of stifle, he has ample bone and substance and neat feet.  Coat and condition was lovely and he did not disappoint on the move flowing round the ring on neat feet with drive and purpose with low set tail he thrilled me in all departments and   I was more than happy to award him his first CC and see him go RBOB I wish him well in the future .

2nd Page Lynmead Prince Charming
Stylish young male who is a bit more refined all through, but none the less masculine and refined in head, dark almond eye neat ears which he used well with a lovely expression. Standing shows off his outline nicely and going over him has good angles front and rear with lovely bend of stifle, short hocks and neat feet just needed a bit more coat on the day,  on the move he did not disappoint as his confirmation suggests moving out with a steady gait .

2yrs Blue male not a showing fool but today he was at the best I have seen him, super colour with dark tan markings in lovely  condition and groomed beautifully.  His head handles so well with lovely dark well set almond eyes, clean stop, well moulded foreface with no sign of coarseness, neat ears that he can use and when he does his expression is just a delight.  Ample reach of neck with  good  front and rear angulation,  good bend of stifle, depth of chest and sweep over the loin,  he did not disappoint on the move striding out with sound gait and drive with low set tail I was very happy to award him the RCC
2nd Mitchell Avonfair Aloysius JW
Another quality male who instantly appeals for type,  he  pushed 1st very hard indeed .  Very stylish throughout, masculine in head with  lovely dark oblique eye, good moulding, clean through , ears used all the time, a real show boy . Standing presents a lovely picture showing his elegant lines and on going over him he did not disappoint he moved out well but not quite as smoothly or as  positive as the blue dog .  One that will always command attention .

1st Waterhouse Lynmead Royal Lover
Quality elegant male  who I have seen on many occasions, I gave his sire a CC  this boy is of the same type and quality, as were a good few in my line up  all possessing the same overall qualities. His head is so well moulded, good stop and neat ears which he can and does use, giving the desired expression, great shape and reach of neck,  good length to height ratio, ample bone and substance and depth of chest, bend of stifle, he has good angles front and rear, moved  enough on lovely neat feet but did not quite put it all together today . Beautifully groomed and presented and sympathetically handled.

2nd King Lynmead Prince of Love at Reserdon
A smaller boy all through than one but from the same kennel and showing similar properties re make, shape and style, would just prefer a bit more of him all over.  Head handles well with nice expression and ears well used when asked , good body proportions and adequate bone and neat feet , he was in good coat and condition and went well on the move

Upstanding male in very good coat and condition so similar in type to many today. Masculine in head, well filled forface sweet eye all creating a  lovely expression and neat ears. Ample neck, front angulation,  good depth of chest, length of back, he moved out soundly albeit a tad close behind with low set tail, in very good coat and condition.

1st  Hawkins and Foy Ch Beldones Ivory Star
Well know male with a well deserved title.  Standing is very well balanced throughout and shows himself of to great advantage.  Head handles nicely with good moulding, well placed stop and sweet eye and expression ears bang on top and attentive all the time. Strong neck into good shoulders, depth of chest and length of back, bend of stifle with ample bone and substance.  Today he lacking in coat but was very well presented, moved out very well with purpose and drive on neat feet with low set tail.

2nd Blaike Ch Kourika You’ll Do For Me
Smaller in make and shape , he has a sweet head and eye for a tri colour with neat ears that he used all the time. I would prefer a better reach of neck  and a bit more of him all through, good bend of stifle,  jet black coat with good deep tan markings,  in good condition moved out freely but he does tend to lift his tail on the move .
