Rough Collies - Show 2
Many thanks to the officers and committee for this invitation to judge Rough Collies at their back to back Open Shows. It was a super entry, albeit smaller, but the quality was in front of me.
Last time I judged, I was concerned about short tails, however that wasn’t the case here, my maybe 2 out of the entry were shorter than I would have liked. BOB was BEL Takhisis Lady of Mystery BW24/25 This Sable girl, so natural and such a honest shape. Not over coated with nothing to hide, but a quality coat of correct texture. Her head is of equal proportions with the required blunt wedge muzzle, her eyes and ear set just added to the overall picture I was looking for in balance and expression. Her neck just flowed into her shoulders, strong topline, croup with a natural fall to her tail set. Her condition is a credit to her owner, muscular without being too much. She just moved with no effort as her construction would suggest. An honest girl that could do her job with some to spare.
RBOB was a super blue dog, Ladnar Call My Name. Not quite 2 but so mature overall. So very well put together, presents a typical shape standing and on the move. He was presented to perfection, such a clear blue coat that was of correct texture. Again his condition was just right. Masculine head of balance with almond shaped eye, ears on top when alert. His rib shape and depth, strong loin and length of back make him balanced in his shape. He moved with purpose over the longer grass.
BPIB, Serenlas She’s on Trend. A sable puppy that presents a pleasing shape at present. She has a good puppy coat of nice texture, her bone is enough without being over done. Rib is developing as it should be, with decent depth, strong neck and good lay of shoulder. Her head is nicely balanced but with some maturing to do at this stage but everything suggests she will fill out without loosing her femininity. She moved well enough today but she enjoyed her day and that’s what it’s about for a puppy.
BVIB, Santalolys Sky Amidalas VW ShCEx when I examine a veteran, when you get one like this girl, you feel very honoured to get the opportunity to do so. Shaded Sable of 11 years, one who belies her age. She is a credit to her owner. Her condition, overall is incredible, her coat turned out to perfection. I loved her head that is very correct, all her teeth present, very keen expression, rib of good depth and shape, still holding her topline standing and moving.
JD 1, Mejola Endeavour. Sable male who presented a breed typical shape. His head is of balance with eyes of correct shape, he used his ears to enhance his expression. Strong neck, good lay of shoulder, deep rib, matching angulation front and back. Strong bone, he moved free without any effort. PGD 1, Ladnar Call My Name JW. BD. 2, Breckamore Paddington. Sable, who was just a shade longer than 1. Saying that he is very well put together and this was evident in his movement. Presented in great order, masculine head, with a keen expression.
LD 1, CorydonThe Baronet. Tri lad, not the flashiest or biggest of dogs but I thought still a very nice dog. I thought his head typified the breed, strong neck of good length. Well laid shoulder, strong topline that just flowed to the tip of his tail. He moved like he had a job to do with purpose. 2, Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal. Bigger overall blue boy. In fabulous coat and condition. No guessing he is male, so mature in everyway. Could have moved better behind.
OD 1, Mejola Top Gun, RBD. Sable in full coat of correct texture. Super in outline with a good amount of bone. Super pigment that really adds to his expression. Balanced head with almond shaped eye that are placed correctly. I liked his length and depth in his body. Another male that moves for fun and this is what his construction suggests.
PB 1, Serenlas She’s on Trend. BPIB. 2, Stiosans Ray of Hope. A much smaller overall bitch and very different type to 1st. She has a profuse coat that is of correct texture but the colour needs to clear as there was quite a lot of tan in it throughout. She has a good wedge shaped head and expression and she carries her ears well. Moved ok.
JB 1, Tremaro Fantasy. Golden Sable. I liked her overall head balance and shape. She has a very profuse coat of good texture. Muscular neck with a good lay of shoulder. Ribbed well back and good depth. Strong in loin with a good topline. She moved without effort.
PGB 1, Croydon Christiana. RBB. What a super colour this bitch is, you can’t help but be drawn to her. Impeccably turned out with a clean but correct textured coat. She has an expression that draws you into her soul, feminine in every way. Wedged shaped head with super pigment that frames her almond shaped eye. Very correct in her body proportions and angles. On the move she is very economical but her keenness of her surroundings is a joy to see. 2, Ladnar Secret Gift. Blue girl that is a very nice shape, I feel just needing to finish in maturity. She moves well enough and her colour is typical of this kennel, clear and marbled with black. Her head is of correct proportions and expression is very pleasing. I liked her depth and shape of rib, strong back and shoulders placed correctly. 3, Tremaro Million Dollar Baby
LB 1, Oakley Ice Queen for Karafaye (IMP Che) I liked the overall shape and balance of this girl. Her coat is in 1st class condition being very clear blue. She has a typical balanced head, very good eye and ears that she uses to advantage. Strong muscular neck that sits well into her lay of shoulder. Correct bone throughout, with a nice length and depth of rib, correct angles through. She moves very well coming and going. 2, Opernball At Intermittent Lake (IMP Svn) nothing to hide with this girl, feminine expression, good neck and shoulder, in great condition, she moves very freely. 3, Maysinder Sapphire Reign OB 1, BEL CH Takhisis Lady of Mystery BW24/25. 2, Serenlas Pumpkin Spice. I liked this girl for her shape and condition. Her head and expression is so feminine. Correctly constructed, throughout and moved so well. Turned out in such fabulous condition,
