Rough Collie Breed Notes

Friday 14th August 2026

Bournemouth Canine Association appears to be settling in at its new home at New Park, Brockenhurst, the venue is basically quite flat but underfoot can be dodgy with a few holes and uneven surfaces. With 2 main tents  either side of the field there was ample room for all and parking was relatively easy albeit for us, at furthest end of the tent,  was a distance.
Our judge was Sue Bird, who first judged, with CC’s at SKC Oct 2021 but is approved over many breeds and holds the Bridus affix and is based in Sussex. She had received quite a small entry of 38 but 2nd in the ring behind Rottweilers with a similar entry but it was some time before we started judging
At the end of the day, it was a wonderful celebration for Caz Waterhouse and Lynmead, who had “one of those days” we often hope for. Not only winning her class with a new youngster, she bred and handled the Dog CC winner and also bred the BCC winner.  Not to be out done, another established exhibitor took both RCC wins with their entries.
Allow me to clarify. Starting with males, over the 8 classes, only 2 had 4 entries, Junior and Open, the remainder were just a single entry. These were won as follows:  Minor Puppy, By D’cossio Timeless Soul for Gataj (Imp Spain) a blue for Melissa; Junior and this was won by Mejola Endeavour for Jo Williams who collected the last points required for his Junior Warrant. In yearling, Caz brought out her new boy, Lynmead Rising Star, Val had Ingledene Absolute Legend in Graduate.  Post Grad went to Hanvale Alexander McQueen for Pamela Rowlinson; Hanvale Ralph Lauren for Steve Toogood won Limit and Lynmead Prince Charming, handled by Caz, for Ann Page won Open.
The CC, his first, although he did win a RDCC at London Collie from Anita Fox was Lynmead Prince Charming, owned by Ann Page who, to say the least, was very excited to watch her boy win from ringside. He is another from the litter, bred by Caz who are reaching for top honours. Born in November 2022,  his other litter mates include CH Lynmead Royal Lover, the dual CC winning Lynmead Waiting For Love, so joins them. They are all sired by Ch Born To Be Quite Famous Lynmead out of Timeless Twilights Sent With Love to Lynmead.
Taking the RDCC was the tricolour belonging to Val & John Geddes, Ingledene Absolute Legend. Sired by Ch Steadlyn Blue Legend out of Ingldene Rum Truffle and he was born -January 2024.
BPD was an automatic win for the blue import and Melissa and there was just 1 absent from the male entry of 13 with no entry in Veteran or Puppy.
The mixed Special Beginners class had 2 entries and these were both females but with one absent, winning this was Gataj Dream To Love in the ownership of Ms G Torfield.
Now to the ladies, with classes slightly better filled, I noticed that in males, the Veteran class followed  Open, but for the ladies, the Veteran class was first and taking this was Ch Ingledene Sno Wanda and Val. No MP were entered and Puppy only had Gataj Miss Sparkle winning. Junior originally had 5 entered but one was absent and winning this a nice win for Inna Van De Ven, based in Belgium and she had Honey Dream Angel Silvestre. Yearling followed with 4 ladies, headed by Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale and Jane Margetts. Graduate had 1 of 2 present and this went to the winner of Spl Beginners. Post Grad, a class of 3, went to Melissa and Gataj All That Glitters. Limit also had 3 of 4 present and was won by the tricolour A Touch of Class for Lexcol for Alexis Swain. Open had 5 entries but only 2 ladies appeared, Ch Skabona If I Saw You In Heaven for Chelborn and Vanessa along with Roughrigg Red Lagertha JW for Hannah Walder and went to Vanessa.
The BCC, her first ,was a lovely win for Jane Margetts and Tilly, Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale, she is a sable, sired by Mr Burberry of Lowlands Green Valley for Chantique, out of Lynmead Waiting for Love and born November 2024. As mentioned, this was the “Icing on The Cake” for Caz, as she bred her and she is out of a sister to the DCC winner.
The RBCC was another to add to the collection for Val and Ch Ingledene Sno Wanda.
In the challenge, quite a family affair, the BOB award was handed to Caz for Ann Page. BPIB again was between both of Melissa’s winners with Gataj Miss Sparkles taking this. BVIB was automatic for Val and Wanda.
Although Caz had handled for Ann Page in the breed, with family at home, she had to leave so it was left for Steve Toogood (Hagneetat) who had kindly brought Ann to the show to handle Archie in the Group which was judged by Bridgette Bodle and he was included in a large short-list but no further.
However, Bridgette also judged the Puppy Groups and I am pleased to report of another group place for Gataj Miss Sparkle who gained G3 and the Veteran Group was judged by Steve Bennett  and Jackie Ward officiated in the Beginners Group.
There are many good stakes classes scheduled here but skipping through I was not able to find any Roughs listed

Other news includes a fantastic win for our Diamonds In The Rough where they managed to place 4th from 12 entries at the recent Solihull Obedience event. Well done to the team members and dogs, old and new. Keep going if you are interested in joining in, please contact Jane Uffspring or other existing Team Members.
Lynda Boyle has been out again and let me know that at Cartmel Agricultural Show, where, despite wind and rain Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW OSW VW at nearly 9 years young gained BOB but her Barrenclough Touch of Thyme JW ShCm won the Pastoral Veteran Group from Sheltie specialist Sue Walker.
