Rough Collie Breed Notes

Leeds at Harewood House was the venue for our latest set of CC’s, again with another first-time judge officiating.
Jacky Cutler, well known in Lancashire Heelers with the Lankeela affix comes from Attleborough, Norfolk and she has received a good entry of 72 for her debut with about 13 absent. Although dry, the day was quite breezy, which as we all know with our breed this can affect ear carriage and the videos I have seen certainly confirms this!
From her male entry of 33, winning a 7th CC was Ch Mejola Top Gun JW, owned by Jo Williams. I am sure you are all aware of his breeding as he has been winning very well recently. Maverick is sired by Corydon The Ringmaster out of Mejola Special Reserve.
Now in Veteran, Aqualita It’s a Miracle, a tricolour, owned by Hazel and daughter Isabelle Allsopp won not just this class but took back home another  reserve CC to add to his collection of 2 CC ‘s.  Best Puppy dog went to Cathy Cooper and Kelekona Hearts of Fire who beat Pauline Sibbald’s new blue baby, By’d Cossio Quiet Strength at Telforth who arrived from Romania and attended his first Ch show.
For the ladies, Melissa Lockyer and her entries eventually arrived having had “one of those car Journeys to the show but all ended well as her sable puppy took a 1st CC with Gataj Miss Sparkles who won from puppy. Sired by Ch Gataj Turn Back Time out of Gataj All That Glitters. She also took BPB beating the only entrant in MP Afterhero Feet of Flames, a blue, also attending her first Ch show for Angela and Keith Harvey.
Having already collected a couple of RCC wins previously, Thistlewing Celtic Soul for Karafaye, returned to the ring with owner Lorraine Quince, to win Open and the RBCC. She is a sable, bred by Brenda Welsh, who also won a class with Thistlewing Gold Mist, and she was born in September 2019. Sired by Ch Karafaye Scotch Blend at Thistlewing out of Yenroc Scottish Harmony at Thistlewing.
Daphne Iley and her blue, Call Me A Dreamer In Blue for Ileyda Della Verde Scozia took Veteran and had to challenge for         BVIB with Hazel Allsopp and Enzo taking the honours.
BOB went to Melissa and her precocious puppy and went through to both Groups, as she was also declared BPIB. In the adult group under Robin Newhouse she had strong competition and was not selected but in the Puppy Group, judged by David Shields was short-listed. Well done.
Dr Lynda Boyle  another who stayed for her group also had a journey to remember as many of the roads around her house were closed due to Fire Risk, but she won the Spl Beginners class with Timeless Destiny Star Actis Over Barrenclough JW and this group was judged by Colin Ashmore.
Enzo represented the breed in the Veteran Group, under Howard Ogden and although put up a good performance was not included. I have not seen any other Stakes wins or places so assume we, as a breed did not feature.
I have seen more sad news as Ray Moore who was former Secretary of the Irish Collie Club recently passed, we send condolences to his wife Hazel and family. More details later.

Monday saw the funeral for mum, Aileen and on behalf of myself and Jim and other family members we would especially like to thank all of you, especially the Breed Clubs for your grateful donations to Mum’s preferred charity, THE CINNAMON TRUST. To all friends and everyone who has kept us in your thoughts for the day, your cards, messages and flowers have helped through this very difficult period.
As announced before, there will be a Celebration of Aileen and Antoc, to be held at a show and you will all be invited to recall memories of mum. As soon as a date is confirmed, I will let you know.
