Rough Collie Breed Notes
Friday 6th November 2026
A fairly quiet weekend with no major shows to report upon and no results from anyone who did pop out to any show.
However, for those of you filling in your Diary for 2027, please note a change of venue for two of our southern shows.
Due to a double booking at the Newbury Showground for Southern Counties, a note from Chairman, David Cavill, has let us know that this show will still be held on the intended dates but a NEW VENUE at Frome’s West Woodlands Showground, Bunns Lane, Frome Somerset. I understand there is plenty of room, a well-drained flat grass surface, and a modern pavilion. Also, there are excellent facilities for caravanners with EHU’s available. The schedule for this show will be available from Fosse Date, early in 2027.
Talking of change of venue, Windsor Dog show, which as we are aware was cancelled due to the excessive heat has also changed its venue and now, along with many committee members have released information to all. This show in 2027 will be a DOUBLE show over the dates 1st-4th July. A move will be made from the Home Park, sitting below the castle, to an area within the Great Park. Much planning will be required by both show committee’s and as soon as more details are available, they will be posted here.
Now to another event held at the RKC Building, Stoneleigh, where quite a few gathered for their RKC Final Assessment to enable them to award CC’s for both Rough and Smooth Collies.
The RKC, along with both breed BEC’S (Carole Smedley and Cathy Howard) were invited to attend along with those taking their final assessment where some good results were achieved .
However, regardless of the final results, I would like to thank all those who attended with dogs, as without them, this could not have taken place. Your help was much appreciated. One point that was noticed, within both breeds, was that Breed Specialists v Non-Breed Specialists had differing placings . I do wonder if our up and coming judges should remember to judge to the Breed Standard, rather than their own personal preferences in type. Maybe they should take this on board!
