6th October 2023
As promised more details from WECS, now I have been sent a marked catalogue.
Held at East Huntspill Village Hall, the same day as Pastoral at Belfast, which did impinge on a few exhibitors, as some, who had already entered both shows, made their decisions accordingly.
This must have been a great disappointment to not only the Club Committee but also to the judge as the original entry was low.
The judge was Shelley Skinner (Nikal) for Roughs; Felicity Snook for Smooths; Mrs K Martin for the SAC with Chairman, Phil Amos(Elsamos) listed as Referee.
From the 9 males present, BD went to the winner of Special Yearling, Serenlas Black Magic, owned by Mrs Hawkins. RBD won from Veteran, with committee member, Margaret Scamp and her Aaronwell Ayebeecee at Marketdene. BPD was Doone from Angelspath bok Atirakin for local exhibitor, Mrs Melonie from Burnham on Sea
There were just 6 ladies in attendance with BB going to the winner of puppy, Ladnar Inaheartbeat, owned by Anneke Von Mossveld, who actually lives in Australia but handled by Cheryl Turner. Cheryl used to her roughs in the 1990-2000 and this was her first venture back in the show ring since then. Blossom, as she is known is staying with friends until she leaves on her long trip to Australia early next year. RBB went to Sue Rae, handling her daughter, Louise’s, charge Gataj Majestic Hope who won from Junior. Blossom was also BPB
At the end of the Rough judging, BOB went to Serenlas Black Magic, RBOB to Ladnar Inaheartbeat, who was also BPIB. With no Veteran ladies’ present, BVIB went to Aaronwell Ayebeecee at Marketdene. RBIS was another smooth, Blamorder Do Quite Nicely for the partnership of Abby Lusty and MR & Mrs Sweeney. Ladnar Inaheartbeat won BPIS and BVIS was another belonging to Jo Denton, Ch Brackenhaye Shape O’My heart who is the dam of the BIS winner.
Kiera Martin had just 2 entries in her SAC classes, both winning and they were the smooths, Blamorder Magic Man with Freejack and Coldelee Jupiter Rises with Blamorder.
Some late news in from Pat Corben, via Cathy Jessop, I hope I have got these facts correct, as Pat went to Sheringham & District under judge Simon Luxmore and Erinsgate Cinderella via Capriora (Welanga Winter Carols ex Wisewyn World Peace) known as Cinders won BPIB and PPG2
Now to SKC, un-benched and held on Saturday with Richard Kinsey (Kitarn) centre stage for a 3rd time. Richard last judged at Three Counties in 2019 and had his first appointment at Belfast in 2015 and today had receved an entry of 53 and according to Higham, only 4 marked as absent.
Winning a 2nd CC, was Hecktor, or as we know him officially, Marvalan Spirit of Rock (Imp Pol) bred by Martina Nowakowska and owned solely by Gwen Beadon. Sired by Marvalan Dream Defender out of Marvalan Black Diamond for Daccaria. His first CC was won at EACA from Jenny Miller last year and he recently won the RDCC at Bournemouth from Marianne Benton and took today’s award from Limit.
The RDCC was Alfsden He Lives In You, handled today by Nigel Marley and his breeding was given recently following his recent wins.
Other class winners included: Miranda and Oakley Imagine Dragons at Corydon (Imp Che) who won MP; Jo Hodges won Puppy with Jopium Love On The Rocks; Although beaten in Puppy, Camanna Cellmate won Junior for Anne Hassock; Kelly Crawford and her Stregato Foolish Guy was alone in Yearling; Robin Blaikie and Kourika You’ll Do For Me took PG and Stacy Steven won Veteran with Cariadhaf Crazy Dream, who also won a good 4th place in the well filled Good Citizen Dog Stakes from Mr Phil Davies.
It was a 1st CC for Valerie and John Geddes and Ingledene Sno Wanda, who won from Open. This blue merle, born in September 2018 is sired by Multi Ch One Extraordinary Blu di Cambiano out of Ch Ingledene Spirit of Ecstasy and is a full sister to both Ch Ingledene Mercury Risin’ and his brother, Ingledene Fantasy of Blu and also interesting to recall, Richard also awarded her dam her 1st CC the last time he judged..
Standing 2nd in Open was “Nellie” Ch Saganan Blue Diamond JW, owned jointly by Gwen and Kate Arrowsmith. A blue merle, Nellie is sired by Ch Ingledene Spirits Arise out of Saganan Lady True Blue and adds this RCC to her already numerous CC & RCC collection.
Other bitches to win classes were: Lorraine Quince and her blue, Oakley Ice Queen for Karafaye ( a sister to the MPD winner);Windwalker Morrigan for Mrs Leslie won Puppy; Jody Macdonald won Junior and Special Beginners with her Brilyn Look at Me but she had been beaten in puppy but could not challenge. Yearling went to Sophie Wray-Ramsden and her Takhisis Lady of Mystery; Debbie Garside won PG with her Jessopdays Its Now or Never. Sophie returned to the ring to take Limit with Takhisis Lady of Illusions and Jo Hodges won another veteran class with Ch Jopium Love Heart JW ShCm, beating Stacy Steven and her Cariadhaf Cookies and Cream for Cambrogan who then won Good Citizens.
At the end of the day, BOB went to Gwen and Hecktor, BP to Windwalker Morrigan who comes from Arbroath, homebred she is sired by Phenomenon of Intermittent Lake (Imp Slovenia) out of Kleopatra At Intermittent Lake and was born in Dec 2022. Jody Macdonald was declared Best Special Beginners with her Brilyn Look at Me, who is a daughter of Ch Magical Moon of Lowlands Green Valley out of Brilyn Loves The Difference.
All of our winners stayed for their respective groups, which I understand were all “Pre-Judged” prior to going on show in the main ring but without success. It is good to see that we are represented in both groups and stakes classes.
