23rd August 2024
All roads led to the Royal Welsh Showground for 2 sets of CCs’. Namely those on offer at WKC and Collie Club of Wales who held their Ch show in conjunction with WKC.
Normally the appointment of a First Time Judge will draw a good entry, but, maybe the venue and travel and number of shows has had some effect.
The judge for this event was Gina Stillwell who along with her husband owns the small Bellawave kennel and she is based near Maidstone, Kent and is the well-known Cup Steward at London & Provincial CC and she had received an entry of 48 and at the end of the day, few more new names were added to our list of winners.
However, the Dog CC went to Hazel Allsopp handling her, husband Derek and daughter Isobel’s Aqualita It’s a Miracle. This is his 2nd CC, having won his first at Bournemouth last year from Marianne Benton. He is a tricolour, sired by Aqualita Dr No out of Aqualita Lady of the Lake and was bred by Edith Pryor and was born in 2019 and he won the Open class. Taking the RDCC was the winner of Limit, Mrs k Phillips and her Essanjay Against All Odds. He is another tricolour, sired by Essanjay Dark Moon Rising out of Ingledene Seasons In The Sun at Essanjay and born Sept 2019. He is bred by Jan Williams.
Other class winners in males were: Veteran and Di Collino and Wicani Altitude at Imaginist; John & Caroline Tipper won MP with Tiganlea Turned To Black. Di Collino returned to win PD with Imaginist A Griffins Mark. Special Beginners Dog went to Essenjay Against All Odds.
For the ladies, a new star in the form of the blue merle, Stregato My Silver Tassie with Gemheid won not only the Junior class, the CC and BOB. A mail message from Heidi Gallagher, owner to say that Tassie’s first show was Manchester this year, and she also went to YCC Open and that this is the second CC won by Heidi’s (the first was Passionate Embrace at Gemheid who won at Blackpool in 2016 from the late Jean Lanning). Born in May 2023, and sired by Stregato Que Velit out of Wicani My Blue veined Child at Stregato and she carries many lines to Angela & Keith Harvey’s Wicani kennel. The RBCC was Stefani Flower and her dual CC winning Serenlas Pumpkin Spice JW who had won Limit. Other class winning ladies included: Marianne Benton and Keira, Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW who won Veteran; Essanjay Heartbreaker won MP for the Williams. And Di Collino won with Imaginist My Fair Lady; Denis and Mary Beardsworth won Graduate with Maysinder Sapphire Reign whilst John & Caroline Tipper, although both these last two entrants were alone in their classes, won PG with Tiganlea True Hearts Desire. Vanessa Cronk and Erica, Ch Skabona If I Saw You In heaven for Chelborn won Open and Alex Mills was alone in Spl Beginners with Hanvale Edina Monsoon with Lemivee but lost out to the dog, Essanjay Against All Odds.
Best of Breed went to Heidi and her Junior bitch, BPIB to Di Collino and Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark but the star of the day was the BVIB, Marianne and her sable bitch, Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW and then, she went into the Pastoral Veteran Group under judge: Mr Age Gjetnes from Norway and wonderful news, she took G1 and had to stay for BVIS. Marianne also let me know that having applied for Kiera’s Show Certificate of Excellence,within24 hours this has been confirmed and she will now be known as Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW ShCex – congratulations on a wonderful win and promoting the breed.
