30th August 2024

I start these notes and I am sure that very many people would also like to thank the efforts of both Josh Blackburn and Christine Biggs, following the cancellation/abandonment of Driffield Ch show (of which I am sure plenty will be written about)
N&D were to have held their Ch show, alongside Driffield where sadly Cath Proctor had drawn a rather good entry of 96 on what would have been her 2nd appointment. Numerous phone calls/mails and messages has resulted in not only a clear and precise statement from N&D (which is available on Collielife site) but the outcome is that N&D, with the help of Yorkshire Collie will now be holding their show on the same day and at the same venue.
As far as I understand, as long as a re-arranged show is held within the RKC specified time constraints, the catalogue for the original show still stands, even if, on the day the exhibit is over age etc. etc.
These two shows will be held on Sunday 8th September, at Hillsborough Park Arena (a new venue for YCC) Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield S6 4HA. Times etc will be issued shortly concerning both shows and it is with grateful thanks that N&D, and YCC, have worked together to help all exhibitors have 2 shows on one day. So, on behalf of everyone concerned, we look forward to this dual event in anticipation
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, London & Provincial held 2 shows, albeit Open shows as they lost their entitlement to CC Status some time back. These were held at Bradfield Village Hall and had also received similar entries for both shows.
Show 1, was judged by Mr Ray McDonald (Roanjara), who according to his cv published in the catalogue is the current secretary to Hitchin & District CS, Show Manager & Vice Chair for Mid Herts Gundog Club and Treasurer to the Irish Red & White Setter Club. Awards CC’s across 8 breeds in 4 groups and has judged Roughs & Smooths since 2001.
He had received quite a good paper entry of 32 Roughs but there were quite a few absent on the day. The biggest class was the Baby Puppy Class (Rough or Smooth) which had 5 entries, and I assume also judged by Ray with his winner being Roughrigg The Life of Riley at Hanvale for Simon & Hannah Walder. Di Collino’s Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark was alone in Puppy but also won Novice.  Junior went to  Takhisis Daggers at Dawn for Sophie Wray Ramsden then Shelley Skinner won PG with Neo, Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal and the only other boy in the line-up was Stefani Flower and Andromeda Dreamcatcher at Serenlas (Imp Slv) . BD went to  Takhisis Daggers at Dawn, with Stefani in Reserve. in reserve.
A dozen ladies competed with BB going to Marianne and her Veteran lady, RBB  going to Jane Margetts and her Lynmead Lemonade for Collingvale .
Other class winners were: MP Xanthe Angel Silvestre at Colcanis; Hanvale Patsy Stone took Junior; PG was Riverside Song Palomera Nera at Colcanis; Jane Margetts won ML with Collingvale Campari and Open went to Stefani and Serenlas Pumpkin Spice. BPB to Di Collino and her Imaginist My Fair Lady with Ch Brooklynson Jayne Russell of Oakestelle VW ShCex also taking BVB and BVIB. BPIB falling to Best Bitch was Imaginist My Fair lady for Di Collino
BIS WENT TO Sophie with all the remaining awards to the smooth fraternity.
At Show 2, with Abby Lusty in charge, her entry was 30 again with absentees.
Her class winners included: Marianne and Keira  winning Veteran, RBB, BVB & BVIB; Imaginist My Fair Lady won Puppy & Novice along with BPB & BPIB; Stregato My Silver Tassie with Gemheid, alone won Junior; Riverside Song Palomera Nera at Colcanis, also alone won PG; Jane Margetts won ML with Collingvale Campari and Open with Lynmead Lemonade at Collingvale who also won BB and RBOB.
Here at Show 2, BIS was judged by Committee Member, Gina Stillwell with BIS being awarded to the smooths, with only  Keira holding up the flag for the roughs.
Winners of the SAC Classes, Rough were: Imaginist My Fair Lady; Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal and Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW ShCEx.
I noted that all exhibitors were offered a FREE Picnic lunch which, I am sure was gratefully received by those attending and according to reports, all enjoyed the day and a good time was had by all.
