20th December 2024
These will be the last set of notes for 2024, and many thanks to those who regularly contribute and let me know of their wins, be it at Open Shows where, if possible I will include. Others also send me pages and results along with all the information exchanged with Julie Growcott via the Collielife pages. Thank you to all concerned, you know who you are. For 2025, I will not have the time or inclination to troll through social media pages reading your latest updates, so if you wish to see you name in print, remembering that many future judges of our breed also read these note please do let me know personally especially if you are fortunate to be placed or even short listed in the groups.
A full review of our show year will be submitted in the New Year along with our top winners and Champion titles.
Now, the last Ch show for 2024 was LKA, now getting established in its new home at Stafford, saw Graham Hill (Dimland) taking centre stage. He last judged the breed at Darlington in 2019 and at the end of the day, we had 2 new CC winners to add to our final list for 2024.
Although held on a Friday, the entry for Roughs was 139 from 118 dogs and taking the first class of the day was Paul Ross and Samshernik Majestic Boy, followed by Ingledene Absolute Legend winning PD for Val & John Geddes. Jo Williams took Junior with Mejola Top Gun JW and Corydon Christopher, owned by John Blake and handled by Wilma Vainionpaa won Yearling. Cathy Cooper and Kelekona Hearts of Gold JW won PG and Jo Williams won Limit with Phreelancer Phederal Agent at Mejola whilst Miranda Blake won Open with Corydon The Grandmaster. Alex Mills and Lynmack Starman at Lemivee took Veteran. Lynda Boyle won both Good Citizen and Special Beginners with her Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW.
With some exhibitors having won classes with different dogs, extra handlers were called in to help. The CC, his first went to Smudge and Wilma. Sired by Corydon the Ringleader out of Ch Corydon Clarissa. The RDCC went to Mejola Top Gun, handled by Lene Newman. BPD fell to Valerie and her tri boy.
Now to the ladies, Brenda Welsh and Thistlewing Amber Heart won MP, Odile and Brian won PB with Beldones Classic Touch. Janine Hanson and Mejola The Special One with Jards won Junior. Gina Stillwell brought out Bellawave Caught In A dream to win Veteran. Lynda Boyle and Timeless Destiny Star Actis Over Barrenclough JW won Good Citizen and Colin Bartram won Sp Beginners with Ambartr’s Dignity and Pride who had been placed in MP.
BCC, her first, following on from her RCC, was Roughrigg Red Lagertha JW, bred by Jim & Morag McCarte and now owned by Hannah & Simon Walder. So nice to have a message from Morag letting me know this news! Her details were published recently. Taking the RBCC was the tri bitch of Maxine’s who had just won Open. Riot as she is known at home is sired by Corydon Riffson out of Demelewis Double Dare. I have no record on BPB.
In the challenge for BOB, this went to Miranda now handling Corydon Christopher. BPIB to Val and Ingledene Absolute Legend. BVIB to Alex Mills with her sable boy. Lynda messaged to let me know that she too stayed for her group but did not feature.
