More changes from Clarges Street, some of these have originated from both the RKC Shows Liaison Councils and General Championship Show Reps, along with other unknown bodies!
Firstly, a MAJOR change concerning Best In Show, which if a Show Society wishes to schedules events in a different order, that BIS can be the final event this mainly applies to General Championship Shows but is also applicable to Club shows should they so wish
We have noticed recently that at Crufts, the final award for BIS is made after the award for RBIS.
This means that should a society wish to hold their BPIS or BVIS (if scheduled) the award of BIS may be held last as a finale of the day.
The Regulation affected is Show Regs F(1)26 with suitable additions and is effective from January 1st 2025 – Likewise Regulation F(1)26.c has been deleted and is also effective from January 1st 2025.
Another change, which is not likely to affect Breed Clubs, as it excludes Single Breed Championship Shows, but the Time Frame between Best Puppy In Show Appointments now becomes the same as the Time Frame for BIS appointments which is now 9 Calendar Months, but do not need RKC Approval and will not appear on the RKC FAJ (Find A Judge) database.
A Change to Class Definitions for the UNDER-GRADUATE class, if scheduled.
This is to help clarification of which dogs are eligible for the class and concerns Regulation F(A) – please note, there are 2 definitions.
1 Applies to classes scheduled at Championship and Open Shows only and reads:
For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate/CACIB/CAC/Green Star or 3 or more FIRST prizes at Championship Shows in, Under-Graduate, Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit or Open Class whether restricted on not where Challenge Certificates were offered.
2. Applies for Limited Shows Only
For dogs which have not won 3 or more FIRST prizes at Open or Championship Shows in Under-Graduate, Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit or Open whether restricted or not
Again, this change is effective from 1st January 2025.
There are also changes to the Penalties and Appeal Regulations, which as good law-abiding exhibitors these will not affect you but can be read in full from the recent RKC Press Release dated Nov 2024.
They can include the marking of a dog’s registration if an “incident is recorded” and also a dog’s registration could be endorsed “not elible for entry in any event held under RKC Rules and Regulations, nor any unlicensed event recognised by the RKC
Another interesting regulation which has been introduced now requires an exhibitor to provide contact details of a Handler on request
Finally, a reminder to all Club Secretaries concerning Licence Application Time Frames.
I am sure that you all take these changes on board, especially with the new season of Ch Shows on the horizon, and for those fortunate to qualify from either home or abroad concerning class entry for Crufts, so please make sure you are either still eligible by age or wins for the class you wish to enter. All class definitions for Crufts are listed in the show schedule, easily available from Fosse Data, as I understand paper schedules, if any available will be in very short supply!
