A small turnout of Rough Collie friends attended the funeral for Hazel Hunt last week, in attendance and representing the Collie Club of Wales was Christine Collins who has let me know the following:
A lovely tribute was read by her grandson concerning her life with mention of her dogs and other issues. A favourite piece from William Shakespeare was read by her grand daughter and amongst the congregation of Phil & Rita Amos, Pete Cornish, Jo Denton, Ros Macdonald and Sheila Beeney . Also present was a lifelong friend of her hairdresser and other family members amounting to approx. 24-25.
Following the funeral, the family have very kindly donated copies of Hazel’s book, which the family have asked that these be sold in aid of Collie Rescue, should you be interested, Christine has let me know she has 6 copies and these will be available at the forthcoming Open Show to be held Sunday April 7th at the usual venue at East Huntspill.
Talking of venues, Yorkshire Collie held their Open show at Eggborough Village Hall, Selby Rd last Sunday.
Although on paper the entry was good for Judges, Georgina Howard (Casatentola) Andrea Richardson (Lizoni) for smooths, and Julia Swann (Swanndale) for the SAC classes there were the inevitable absentees from these resulting in about 9 males and a dozen or so ladies present.
The first class was a mixed Special Beginners class with 5 entered and present and winning this was Siluto Blueberry Mist
Both Veterans were absent, and Takhisis Daggers at Dawn stood alone in MP, Oakley Imagine Dragons at Corydon was also alone in PD. Winning Junior from the 3 present was Didek Once In A Blue Moon and he also took Maiden. Libanel Erebus Eternal Love won Graduate, having been placed 4th in Sp Beginners and Thistlewing Smokey Quarts took PG. Demelewis Silver Spur at Corydon was alone in Limit as was Corydon The Grandmaster. Best Dog went to Thistlewing Smokey Quarts with RBD to Corydon The Grandmaster and BPD to Takhisis Daggers at Dawn. Now to the ladies, Aniesh Misty Blue Moon of Siluto won Veteran and also BVIB as there were no others to compete against. Takhisis Dawn Chorus, won MP , Ambartr May Queen took Puppy, was 4th in Junior and then won Maiden. Siluto Silvary Blue Moon won Junior. Siluto Blueberry Mist, who was 2nd in Junior won Graduate. Beldones Clementine avec Coloratura, who had been 2nd in Sp Beginners won PG. Limit produced the eventual BB winner, Uffspring Ultravox for Coloratura who won the class and standing 2nd was Thistlewing Spell On You who was then RBB. Winning Open was Takhisis Lady of Illusions
BOB went to the bitch and then competed against the smooth for BIS. According to the catalogue, this was to be judged by Tony Iley (Ileyda). BIS went to the rough bitch. RBIS to the smooth and BPIB was Takhisis Daggers at Dawn.
Julia Swann’s SAC classes included both Rough and Smooth entrants were well filled and she found her winners in the following: Oakley Imagine Dragons at Corydon (Puppy); Beldones Clementine at Coloratura (PG) and Corydon The Grandmaster for Open.
The previous day, Takhisis Daggers at Dawn, known to all as Monty went to Newark & District Open with judge Angela Peddar centre stage and then came home with BPIB and Puppy G1, I also understand that at the same show, Derek, Hazel and Isobelle Allsopp, took their tri boy Aqualita It’s A Miracle and took BOB and Pastoral G4.
