West of England Collie Society, perhaps better know in the short form of WECS, held their first outdoor open show at their usual venue at East Huntspill and with the sun shining down all day, everyone appeared to be enjoying the relaxed atmosphere although it was quite a late finish for those who stayed but the excellent refreshments did help to pass the time.
WECS first choice of judge was Jo Williams but due to unforeseen circumstances she did let the Officers and Committee know in good time that she was unable to judge therefore another judge was appointed. This was Felicity Snook from nearby Bristol and she is approved over many breeds including the Terrier Group.
This show also caters for Smooths and Christine Collins (Triburle) was judging with Lana Robinson (Lavika) doing the SAC Rough Classes and Tony Leverton was listed for Referee. However, due to an accident on the M5, causing quite a delay, the SAC classes were judged, albeit a little later than planned with the results listed below.
It was a good overall entry on paper but also included the usual number of absentees, some thinking of fellow exhibitors stayed away as their dogs were not 100% fit. I am sure this was appreciated by all, as recently quite a few shows have been held with exhibitors taking unfit dogs and passing on issues to others. If you dog is not well, please stay home regardless.
66 Roughs had been entered with 12 listed as absent here is a list of the class winners: Veteran – Brookynut Storms Legacy; M Puppy - Ladnar Call My Name; Puppy – Tremaro Special Agent; Junior – Wisewyn Eternal Life who also won Novice; Spl Yearling – Prince of Sunlight Thrilled By The Difference at Gataj; Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal won both Graduate and Post Graduate; Serenlas Black Magic won Limit and Androma Dreamcatcher at Serenlas took Open.
Best Dog was Androma Dreamcatcher at Serenlas for Stefani Flower, with a delighted Shelley Skinner winning RBD with Neo (Ladnar Makeithappen for Nikal, with the BPD going to Tremaro Special Agent and BVD to Brookynut Storms Legacy
Veteran Bitch was headed by Ch Brooklynson Jayne Russell at Oakestelle VW, ShCex. MPB was Brilyn’s Breckamore Crimson Embers; Tremaro Million Dollar Baby won PB; Junior – Serenlas Edge of Heaven; Spl Yearling – Serenlas Truly Scrumptious; Novice – Salsina Mystic Rose; Graduate – Atirakin Wild Hialeah; Post Graduate – Samhaven Super Natural at Willowcombe;  Wassail Call The Midwife won Limit with Serenlas Heaven In Blu winning Open. Best Bitch was awarded to Tremaro Million Dollar Baby who was also BPB with Keira (Ch Brooklynson Jayne Russell in reserve who was also BVB.
Felicity chose the puppy bitch for BOB and BPIB and Jayne Russell for BVIB.
Christine’s choice for BOB Smooth was Ch Blamorder Do Quite Nicely AW(B) and both judges agreed for the rough puppy to be BIS, however, I understand that neither could agree on BPIS and the choice, by Tony Leverton went to the smooth puppy Blamorder Double or Quits of Oakestelle.
BVIS was also awarded to the smooth, Ch Blamorder Ice Cream Dream, so apart from RBIS which went to Million Dollar Baby all other awards went to the smooths who had an entry of 24.
The results of the SAC classes were as follows: Puppy D/B 1st Gataj All That Glitters; Post Graduate Dog/Bitch 1st Beldones Double Illusion at Gataj; Open Dog/Bitch 1st Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell (Imp Rom)
