Thanks to Lynda Boyle who has let us know the following: at Harrogate DCS, my s/w boy. Liam [BARRENCLOUGH HEART OF GOLD JW ShCEx OSW] was awarded Pastoral Veteran Group 1 under Roy Bell [OES]. No Roughs were placed in the other Groups. Nothing in BVIS despite giving it our best shot.
At Cartmel Agricultural Soc, Star {TIMELESS DESTINY STAR ACTIS OVER BARRENCLOUGH JW] was awarded BOB and Pastoral Group 3 under Janet Johnson [Samoyeds] and Liam gained Veteran Group 4, giving him his final point for his veteran warrant, subject to KC approval. So, he will be known as BARRENCLOUGH HEART OF GOLD JW ShCEx OSW VW. That is our 6th Veteran Warrant, Now on to the next! Well done to all concerned
Now, many packed their bags and honed their navigational skills, with the ultimate destination of Helsinki for a really super few days. All collie orientated. As the Finnish Collie Association and the International Collie Society group welcomed many from the UK, with names to numerous to mention, all enjoyed the experience of not only the Circuit Show but also the World Dog Show held a few days later. After attending the circuit show, followed by a relaxing day, the Collie Conference, with all items discussed was held and following this, an evening meal, a river boat cruise and some retail therapy concluded the day.
Our intrepid collie traveller, Ingrid, or as we know her, Multi-titled Ch Skabona Too Good To Be True, having returned home from her wins at Paignton, packed her lead and handler and set off for another few show days in Finland.
The judge for the Circuit Show was Astrid Lundava from Estonia who had drawn an entry of 69 roughs. Shown by Natalia Skalin she gained BOS, Best Bitch and new Helsinki Circuit Winner 2025. Ingrid, is jointly owned by Anne Kokkonen and Natalia . The BOB rough was another sable, Top Gun de Jorbat Y’anna owned by Jorge Batista
On Sunday, many gathered for the WDS where the judge was Tamus Jakkel (Black Mirage) from Hungary who had a lovely entry of 138 collies to examine. Again. Ingrid topped the ladies, gaining yet more International titles but had to settle for BOS to MV-25 Rey Magiczny Skot.

Well, after the drama and results of the WDS, back to the UK for another Ch Show in our busy calendar. This time, a return to New Park, Brockenhurst, saw Bournemouth CA hold their show, preceded by their Open show, held on the Friday.
The judge for Roughs was Robin Newhouse of the world-famous Annecy kennels, based in Chorley, Lancashire and Robin is approved for 3 Groups and BIS All Breeds. He last judged the breed at ACC in 2023 and prior to that at City Birmingham and SKC so it was a great surprise to see his total paper entry was just 30!
Obviously quite a few classes had no entries at all, in both sexes but on the day, there were just 8 males present as 2 that had been entered were absent. These included, Gataj Strike It Lucky, Gataj Time Will Tell, Hanvale Alexander McQueen, all of whom were alone in their classes. Kourika The Gigolo won Limit and Demelewis Silver Spur at Corydon won the Open class of 3.
The CC, his first, went to Maxine Mellish and her Demelewis Silver Spur at Corydon, sired by Corydon Riffson (a son of Ch Demelewis Dark Moon Driftin over Corydon) out of the blue, Demelewis Double Dare. He was born January 2021 and known as Silver as he is a blue merle and this lovely win must have helped Maxine on her long journey back.
Although Ch Gataj Turn Back Time was 2nd in Open, in front of the breed’s latest Ch, Chelborn’s Gambling List, the RDCC went to another Gataj, the MP winner, Strike It Lucky at just his 3rd outing. A sable, he is sired by Ch Gataj Struck By Lightning out of Riverside Song Dominique for Gataj.
Now for the ladies, 2 absent from the listed 18, had the following class winners: Gataj Struck By Love, Wicani Bellissima Rosschell, Serenlas Borrowed Heaven, Gataj Little Miss Sassy at Terelimon, Trenley Treacle Tart, Gataj All That Sparkles and Chelborn Tell Me Your Wish. There were no entries in Post Grad bitfch.
Winning the CC, from the Open class of 5, was Chelborn Tell Me Your Wish, another one handled by Isaac Preddy.
This is her 1st CC, born in July 2022, she is sired by Int Ch Skabona The Gambler at Chelborn out of Chelborn That’ll Be A Wish at Shepatin (who is a daughter of Ch C. Kiss’n’Tell and Chelborn Wish List.
Having had a good run of puppy wins recently, and taking BPIB the previous day at the BCA Open Show was another blue, Wicani Bellissima Rosschell for Michelle and Jake Walsh who handled and was also available to handle for others on the day. She won not only her class but BPB and, to make the day extra special the Reserve BCC at just 10 months. Bred by Keith and Angela Harvey, she was born 22nd September 2024 and sired by Wicani Raising The Bars out of the recent CC winning, Wicani Blue Myrobella and, she is jointly owned by Michelle Davis and Jake Walsh.
BOB went to Maxine and Silver, to represent us in the group, BPIB to Melissa with Gataj Strike It Lucky, who was short listed in the Puppy Goup, also judged by Russell Jones (who judged Bath last year). Rob & Margret Shipp annexed BVIB with Ch Gillyflower Della Buca Delle Fate (Imp Ita) who had been placed VHC in Open. Best Special Beginner was Gataj Dream To Love owned by Ms G Tolfield.
