7th February 2025

With a couple of weekends with no shows, there is little to report as either everybody stayed home, or did not have successful days at any of the Open shows they attended. No news means no notes
On another subject: JUDGES, I am sure that the majority of those wishing to progress their judging will be pleased to learn that a Final RKC Assessment was recently carried out for those JEP candidates who had reached L3 along with all the remaining requirements. My personal thanks to those who offered their dogs for Assessment and to those Judges who, at extremely short notice, offered their services as Assessors. The results were varied with just 50% of those candidates attending gaining approval.
The JEP is working well and with the help of those FEW generous people who are prepared to give up their own time and effort to Mentor new candidates it can only get better
As some, not many, may be aware, what was termed the “Old Route” for CC Approval closes at the end of this year, and only those who have actually completed all aspects of the Grandfather or A2 Assessments will be approved. This means there are now many prospective judges requesting Assessments and trying to gain Approval to Club A3 listings.
Clubs, and the Breed Council have requested names from all Clubs for inclusion to the A3 listing, which gives a candidate one further step in approvals. If Clubs have not responded, and some have not, it does make applications by those probably very near to CC approval much more difficult as the requirement is for 50% of all Clubs to approve, remembering we have 14 Clubs and a Breed Council.
Clubs are also advised to hold A2/3 Assessments along with any BAD/MCE day they are holding. Assessors for these must comply with the current RKC requirements as listed.
All other JEP candidates are reminded to Upload all their Certificates and all associated paperwork to the On-Line Platform on RKC Find A Judge  for all Levels. Those at for possible Level 4 approvals will be noted and contacted and invited only by the RKC to attend a L4 Assessment. The whole registration process is free and only requires registration to My KC and creating your account.
From January 1st 2026, Please remember that unless you are enrolled via the JEP, or have  “Other” RKC Approvals your approval to judge, at any level, will be limited, regardless!
Finally, if any of the Officers of the Midland Collie Club send me, by Sunday, (Our Dogs deadline, not mine) a full copy of their show catalogue, I will include detailed report for next week’s notes, although by the time you read them, all major results will be known.
