The next main event of the year was Collie of the Year, held by British Collie, and again it was “Weather Affected”
Thanks so much to the main organiser, Jo Hodges, who arranged for a catalogue and final results arriving here and to other BCC Committee Members for their efforts on the day and regarding some comments, it would appear, once again, a great day and evening was had by all who attended.
As a trial, I understand that the Smooth Collies were invited to attend the event, although both BCC and I  are well aware this breed holds its own Smooth Collie of the Year event later on this year but from those who attended, the overall winner was Julie Sewell and her Ch Wynele Strike It Rich It Rich To Lewarne JW and congratulations to her on this lovely win.
The judges for this event, for both breeds were, Christina Chapman, Fran Kaye and Dermott Timmins and from the original entry of 48 roughs, just 27 managed to travel through adverse weather conditions to attenda.
Congratulations must go to Morag & Jim McCarte, as, it may be a “first” but they actually bred both the main winners in roughs on the day. However, as is often the case, their journey down, and return to Scotland encountered a few problems, as on the way down Jim & Morag encountered a “flying object” and ended up with a cracked windscreen and then the morning after arrived to drive home only to find a flat tyre – such is life!
Veteran of the year was a nice win for Alex Mills and Lynmack Starman at Lemivee. Taking 2nd and R/Up was Hannah Lyall and Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas; Jo Williams and Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune took 3rd with Marianne Benton and Ch Brooklynson Jayne Russell of Oakestelle in reserve.
For the junior / puppy competition, Jim & Morag’s Roughrigg Rags’n’Riches annexed this title, followed home by Geosamka Loves to Love at Ithilien, Aaronwell Able Mabel and Gataj Exotic Girl for Melissa Lockyer.
Adult males had the following results: Ch Gataj Turn Back Time; Ch Beldones Rocket Man; Ir Ch and dual UK CC winner, Daliyhaa Master Craftsman and finally Alfsden He Lives In You
For the ladies, taking top spot was Roughrigg Red Lagertha followed by Beldones Just For Fun at Starlenga, Erjon Evolving Beauty and finally Ch Ingledene Sno Wanda.
In the final run off for Collie of The Year, this went to Roughrigg Red Lagertha for Simon & Hannah, who actually did let me know of this win as they were on the way for another well-deserved holiday the following day. R/U was the dog, Ch Gataj Turn Back Time, Ch Beldones Rocket Man annexed 3rd and in 4th place was Beldones Just For Fun at Starlenga.
Finally our Lynda Boyle has just received news of a new JW, this is for her Polish import, Timeless Destiny Star Actid over Barrenclough and Lynda states that this award is somewhat special as Star was just under 12 months old on arrival in the UK and had never been off the farm, where she was born and within 6 months she had adapted to the UK Showring and annexed this award.
