Firstly, very many congratulations to the proud parents, Derek & Hazel, as young Isobelle Allsopp had a wonderful day in the show ring Jill Peak was the judge for the 6-11 YKC handling classes held at the National. Isobel, handling Kira, who I think has an official name in Grandgenes She Has The Look, won this class and is now qualified for events later in the year. Well done Isobel and we do need youngsters in the show ring, you are doing so well Isobel
News in from across the water, where the AICSS held their Breed Open show, in this their 99th year of existence. Judge Michelle Davis (Rosschell) was centre stage. Michelle was accompanied by grandson Jake Walsh who also found time to show his ASD as this show was held in conjunction with Hibernian show held at NEC Cloghan, Dublin. Michelle is due to judge, her first time with CC’s at the SKC shortly and had received an original entry of 31 but with many absent. From the males present, BD went to Marie Delany and Bonnettsrath Raindance with RBD to Jolanta Data and Tomasz with Afterhero Vol’Jin the Warchief. BB went to Suzie Nealon and Ezzmare Majestic In Blue with Rowlands Love from Maddie in Reserve. BIS went to Susie and her blue.
Now to the main event of the weekend, National Dog Show, now well established in its home at Stafford. Our breed had a very well-known judge for his first-time awarding CC’s to the breed but is already known for his Beauview Griffons and he is also passed for the Group and many other breeds. Howard Ogden came through the “Grandfather” route to award CC’s and received a good entry of 109 with the usual number of absentees.
interesting to note, before the actual awarding of the CC, Howard did select from all present those he was interested in for both sexes and put them through their paces again before making his final decisions.
Taking his 2nd CC from Open, was Corydon Christopher, handled by Miranda. A sable sired by Corydon The Ringleader out of Ch Corydon Clarissa and he won the class of 10 with 1 marked absent. Called in for possibly the RDCC was 2nd in Open, Stefani Flower and her Androma Dreamcatcher at Serenlas (Imp Slov) but had to give way to Clovis, Beldones Ivory Star handled by Odile and he won this from Junior and whose details were given very recently following his 2nd CC win.
Other class winners were Jacky Dix whose Barrenclough Diamond Skies was handled on the day by Chloe Gelder who piloted him through to win not only this class but Best Spl Beginners and she also took him into the Group judged by Lee Cox. Chloe is fairly new to the dog scene and is just 16 years young.
Andre & Chantal won MPD with Lynmead Written In The Stars for Chantique; Dave & Sue Randal continued class collecting with Ladnar Call My Name; Jo Williams won Yearling with Maverick (Mejola Top Gun) whilst Essanjay Ring of Fire was alone in ND, but had previously been 2nd in JD; Sophie Gelder was also alone in Graduate and won with Libanel Erebus Eternal Love. Kelly Crawford won PG with Stregato Foolish Guy for Delseirios. Jo Williams had a quick change of leads and won Limit with her triclour, Phreelancer Phederal Agent at Mejola then had another change of leads to win Veteran with Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune ShCx.
Now to the ladies, and winning a first CC from Puppy and also winning Junior, was Jo Hodges and Jopium Follow My Heart. A sable, sired by Riverside Song Xplorer of Hearts out of Jopium Loves to Sparkle with Meryctin. A sad note from Brenda Cooney to say that Tilly’s grandfather, Ch Jopium Stole My Heart at Lingwell was given sleep at just 12 years young. He was a winner of 6 CC’s and sired Ch Jopium Love Heart JW ShCm; Jopium Secret Fantasy and Barrenclough Heart of Gold to name but a few and Jamie was the last rough actively campaigned by Brenda and late husband Pat. So, his line lives on through many and now through to this special lady, Tilly.
The RBCC was another for Hanvale Patsy Stone, handled again by co-owner/breeder, Simon Walder. She won Yearling Bitch. The remaining class winners who were present in the challenge were: Elspeth Rose with Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura, who also won Graduate. Denise & Samantha Vogan with Lenosann Wildest Dreams; Mary & Denis Beardsworth won Novice with their latest baby, who had been 3rd in MP, Wicani Dulcibella Gyda Maysinder, and then had the thrill of winning PG with Maysinder Sapphire Reign. Melissa Lockyer won Limit with Gataj All That Sparkles and would like to thank everyone for their concern following husband Graham’s recent operation and reported that he was now home and we all wish him a speedy recovery. Two more classes followed and Sue Hawkins handled John Congdon’s recent new Ch, Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell (Imp Rom) to win Open and Di Collino won Veteran with Imaginist Willow Wren.
BOB went to Miranda and Corydon Christopher, who went well in the group judged by Fran Kaye (Danfrebek) BPIB to Jo and Tilly who were short-listed by Lucy Mottram in the Puppy Group and Jo Williams won BVIB with her blue boy but did not feature under Shaun Watson.
