Some Sad news just in from Ayrshire Collie Club via Morag McCarte, who is quite busy at the moment, helping to organise her son’s wedding and house move and all associated issues. She has let me know that Maisie Taylor, wife of Tommy Taylor sadly passed away last Thursday. Maisie, a previous Secretary of Ayrshire CC, along with husband Tommy had the Caerluath kennel which did very well and some of their collies gained high honours.
Based on Rubec and Camanna breeding some of their winners included: CH Caerluath Blue Legend of Figlidelvento; Caerluath Charisma and C Princess Daisy and Rhapsody in Blue at Rubec. by Alan & Maud, Blue Legend sired some good stock for both Heighinglea and Coarhabeg kennels with winning progeny
Now to the latest, and last Club Championship Show for 2025. This was Collie Association held at the KC Building, Stoneleigh last Sunday. Also held at the same venue was the Smooth Collie Club of GB who also schedule rough classes, but without CC’s for judge Natalia Skalin (Skabona). Details of this will be given later.
If you could not attend the show, where many raffle prizes and excellent food offerings were available, courtesy of Committee member Tracy Wilkinson aided by Joanna Lake provided an excellent and varied menu for all and these two ladies worked non-stop all day and their offerings were very much appreciated by all.
Another nice touch, the catalogue for the show and class results, as they happened, were available during the day. So, you could sit at home and get the results, all due to the hard work of Committee Member, Julie Growcott, thanks so much for this, as I am sure very many people appreciated all this.
CA had a good entry of Roughs, and also smooths, (without CC’s) for judges Alan Staniland (Tashadon) for males and Tan Nagrecha (Chandlimore) doing females. BOB roughs, Referee and BIS was Lynn Salt (Woodlyn). The smooth judge was Hazel Allsopp (Sandmel)
Before the judging commenced, a moment of silence and reflection was called for to remember Brian Hull (Lizmark); Jean Catliff (Mallicot); Gee McEntee (Gerian) along with Jacky Buckley a close friend of the late Rene Cozens.
From the entry of males, Alan, who last judged at Collie Club Wales in 2024, chose non-other than Clovis (Ch Beldones Ivory Star) for his CC winner, which is think is his 9th in total. The RDCC, also from the same class was Ch Jopium Love On The Rocks for Jo Hodges. (He is sired by Jopium Danny Boy at Lingwell out of Jopium Loves to Sparkle at Meryctin.  BPD at his first show, was another new baby of Melissa Lockyer, this is Gataj Just Like Jesse James, born April 2025 and sired by Ch Gataj Turn Back Time out of Sweetmint’s Uptown Girl at Gataj (Imp Nor) and he won his MP class with no PD entered he was automatically BPD. BVD went to Lynda Boyle and her Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW ShCEx. OSW and VW,
Other class winners included: Tiganlea Turned To Black for John & Caroline; Paulara Ocean Raine (who had been 2nd in MP) for Karen Johnstone; Thistlewings Andromeda at Bracoisla and Clare Shorten. Gemheid Chestnut for Mr & Mrs Dawson; Hanvale Ralph Lauren, piloted by his co-breeder (Hannah)  for Mr & Mrs Toogood; Kourika The Gigolo and Robin Blaikie won their class, along with Lynda Boyles winner of both Spl Beginners and Veteran Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW ShCEx OSW & VW
For the bitches, Tan Nagrecha, who last judged at Manchester in 2023, had the pleasure of awarding a first CC to the winner of Open, Ingledene Crystal Vision of Phreelancer. A blue, owned by Lene Newman and bred by John & Val Geddes who earlier in her show career had already collected 2 RBCC from Viv Anderton at Crufts and at Midland from Karen Colman Smith in 2024 and then took time out to spend time in the whelping box. Sired by Ingledene Well Sooted out of Ch Ingledene Sno Wanda. The RBCC was a win for Aaronwell Able Mabel (Ch Broyn Intoxicate ex Riverside Song Desiderate at Aaronwell, also from Open. Owned by John Congdon. BPB went to Di Ware and her Millubie Parachute Into Wassail who won PB. Imported a few months ago she comes from Serbia and is by Harry Art Blue ex Millubie Key to My Heart . BVB was Vanessa Cronk and her Ch Chelborn Wish List. Others to win classes were: Tremaro Fantasy for Rob & Margaret Shipp; Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale and Jane Margetts; Tremaro Million Dollar Baby for Rob & Margaret; Beldones Rich Velvet now handled by Eleri Bluck;  but listed in the catalogue as owned by Brian & Odile; Monica Wells and Gataj Little Miss Sassy at Terelimon won their class. Melissa and Gataj Exotic Girl and Riverside Song Ice Cream Girl for Liz Patman, also won their classes with Val Tame and her Gataj Time After Time at Rahlissa (our RKC photo representative) along with the winner of Spl Beginners, Timeless Destiny Star Actis Over Barrenclough JW and Lynda Boyle.
BOB went to Lene and her blue and in the final in show awards, judged by Lynne Salt , Ch Beldones Ivory Star took Best Opp Sex In Show , Lene was BIS, with Marianne Benton’s smooth in Reserve, BPIS to Melissa but BVIS also went to the Smooth.

At Smooth Collie Club of GB, under Natalia Skalin, Lene and her blue girl repeated their CA wins, as did Brian, Odile and Clovis. RBD was with Miranda and Corydon Grandmaster and RBB went to Beldones Rich Velvet. BPIB was Aaronwell All About Elsa with Samhaven Sound Effects for Liz Patman & Alison Grainger taking BVIB.
