Firstly, some great news concerning a very special exclusive invitation that was received by one of our exhibitors, we have a budding film star in our ranks, sorry to say but I am not able to elaborate more until next week, so watch this space !!!!

A short message with news in from Serenlas ,via Stefani Flower, who took her puppy, Serenlas The Jokerman to Amman Valley show at Carmarthen Showground where a single breed class was scheduled for judge  Sharon Bowen,(Larath)  who according to RKC FAJ awards CC’s in both GSD and Cocker Spaniels. and came back home with BOB , BPIB and PPG3.
Not to be outdone, Millubie Parachute into Wassail and Di Ware entered their first show together at Torquay & District CS under Jackie Tune (Rottalma) from Nottingham who is approved for Aust Cattle Dogs and Swedish Valhunds. Known at home as Purdie, she too had a wonderful day. She arrived in the UK just 7 weeks ago and has certainly made her mark as she took BPIB, BOB, was shortlisted in the Adult Group and then won the Pastoral Puppy Group, all judged by Jackie Tune.
I was very saddened to hear the news that Gee McEntee lost her fight for life last week. Although I am aware that many will be adding their personal tributes, the following is purely a short record of her achievements with her Gerian Collies.
Nearly all of the collies shown and kept by Gee gained their Kennel Club Stud Book Numbers, no easy feat in the days when entries were at their highest with multiple numbers in all classes and overall entries being in the high hundreds.
Based firstly in the south of the country, one of her early collies was Pelido Prima Donna at Gerian and a few litters followed using some of the extensive stock based at the Pelido Kennel of Lisa & Peter Burtenshaw. Once established, the Gerian’s were mainly sable and white but a few tricolours were kept with success and if memory serves, also a blue merle or two
A quick check reveals some very interesting breeding, not afraid  to accept a challenge, Gee used a various selection of males for use in her breeding programme including: Jayverly, Emryks, Amalie, Silvermoor’s, Geosan, Abbeywater, Elsamos and Mirjoy. Names which some of our newer exhibitors may not be aware of, and latterly included litters by Jopium, Samhaven, Brilyn and Chantique. Having established her own classic lines, often a sire was home bred, or even imported as in the form of Harpers  Field Xeltic Lord of The Dance at Gerian who gained his title here in the UK and can be found behind some other Gerian collies.
Her Champions included, Sunberries, Sun Dance, Sunshine at Collingvale, Sunkissed, Sunmaker at Roanburn, Sunshine and Sunsilk and I recall winning a RBCC with Ch Antoc Crystal Rainbow to a new Ch Gerian Sunsilk back in 1999.
As a judge, her opinion was often sought with appointments at London & Provincial in 2007, London Collie, LKA, British Collie and her last appointment at WECS in 2020.

Such sad news to hear about the passing of Gee but I feel she will be at peace now and reunited with her lovely mum. Having had time to reflect Gee was never one to ‘give in’ and well  we certainly had some great times together lots of laughs and sadness,  great memories of our travels to dog shows all over the country, discussing dogs and pedigrees and life in general  at her house over a cuppa , looking at litters and picking out puppies one of which I was given the opportunity to own and successfully make up to CH Gerian Sunflower at Collingvale JW. As the saying goes ‘those were the days’ but memories last forever  RIP Gee
Odile Foy also writes:  Twenty years ago, whilst still in France, I purchased from Gee, International Champion Gerian Sunprincess (RCC in England at 8 month old). I bought in 2006 when I was still in France and she had a fabulous show career on the continent. 

From Natalia Mironychev  who writes: from Israel,  I was very sad to see that Gee McEntee passed. My first show and brood female was from her breeding. In 2004 I was looking for good foundation for my breeding, and I found Gerian collies as very close to my vision. I’ve contacted Gee and was happy to reserve a puppy from beautiful Gerian Sunset, inbred 1-3 on him, that was my Isr. Ch. Gerian Suncharm, and I still have her granddaughter and grand granddaughters around, as well as many other families that happily own her descendants
