More details from City Birmingham as I understand that judging was delayed by half and hour due to a serious accident but all managed to arrive in time. Many were welcomed by the helpful Stewards and Committee and a lovely touch that I heard of, was that anyone gaining that elusive 3rd CC on the day was given a special voucher to exchange for a rather glamorous named rosette. What a great touch and so thoughtful too.
So nice to hear directly from some of the main winners, as a delighted Anne Hassock let me know that “Fred”, better known as Camanna Cellmate took his 2nd CC under the guidance and handling of Miranda Blake. (Ch Paulara No Where Man ex Camanna Paulara Sissy Spacek) His first CC came from Tony Iley at CCW in 2004 and he has collected a few RCC wins along the way.
The RDCC was another for Ladnar Call My Name, (Vince) and under new KC Rules, he will need just 2 CC’s to claim his title of Champion, as we know he has had a spectacular show career to date and although now in Junior, is still listed as the breed’s top puppy according to Our Dogs. Sired by Myriehewe London Calling out of Ladnar Izadorable. Speaking with owners Sue and Dave, with the total number of Reserve CC wins, (6) he will just need 2 bigger green cards to acquire his Champion title, also he now has sufficient points to claim his Junior Warrant. Another to claim the final points was Ninja, Corydon the Baronet who has been promoting the breed well and bringing home even more money from Stakes wins and placings. Today this was a 3rd place in the Yearling dog stakes from Lucy Mottram
Others to win classes here were: Special Beginners Dog, went to Lynda Boyle and her Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW ShCEx OSW. Jo Williams and Ch Mejola Fate & Fortune took the Veteran class of 3. There were no MPD but alone in PD was Gataj Strike It Lucky for Melissa.
Junior went to Sue, Dave & Vince, with no arrivals in Yearling Novice was won by Miranda and Ninja (Corydon The Baronet)  Avonfair Aloysius JW won the PG class of 6 handled by Michelle Mitchell on behalf the Mitchell / Jordan family. Limit dog went to Camanna Cellmate and Open to Melissa and her Very Special Agent Silvestre at Gataj. Lynda also collected a 1st with her Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW ShCEx OSW from the Good Citizens class of 1.
Now to the ladies, and taking her 3rd CC, and also one of the lovely named rosettes was Lena Newman and Phreelancer Pheel It Still.  Having won at EACA from Jan Milligan and the recent CCW from Louise Walker. She is sired by the late Phreelancer Phinal Salute out of Phreelancer Phifty Shades and is owned and bred by Lene Newman and I think has only attended half a dozen shows in her career.
With the award of yet another RBCC, Chantal and Andre will just be waiting official RKC Confirmation that their sable lady, Chantique Déjà Vu carries her title. Already the holder of 2 CC’s, the first at LCC from John Catliff in 2023, followed by a 2nd from Caz Waterhouse in 2024 at SCC, meanwhile, I think she has since collected numerous RBCC wins. Sired by Mr Burberry of Lowlands Green Valley to Chantique out of Chantique Fairy Dust and she too was awarded one of the special Ch rosettes.
Other class wins were taken by: Lynda Boyle who won Spl Beginners with Timeless Destiny Star Actis over Barrenclough JW. With no Veteran ladies entered, MP was a lovely win for Jackie Dix, although not handled by her, with her Gataj First Crush at Treweek. Chan & Andre won PB with Chantique Away Wi’ The Fairies. Donna Baker won Junior with Salsina’s My Girl of Marilake and followed this up with winning Yearling. No Graduate ladies but collecting 1st places in PG was Hanvale Patsy Stone JW handled, as usual by Simon Walder for both he and Hannah, although I understand Hannah was also in attendance today. Sheila Carlton entered her Lynmead Dress the Stars of Sambreeze and won the Good Citizen class with her

BOB was awarded to Lene, BPIB went to Gataj Strike It Lucky, BVIB to Jo Williams at Ch Mejola Fate and Fortune. And Best Junior was Vince. Although all stayed for their respective groups, I don’t think anyone was short-listed or placed.
If I have missed out wins / places, many apologies but if you let me know, I will gladly include.
Finally, just reminder to all ASPIRING JUDGES out there, and to those applying for CC status via Grandfather, we all wish you luck as quite a few have achieved this status and are now listed at L4
Also, for those who are still residing on Club B or C lists please be aware that to continue judging (and receiving invitations) you MUST be listed on the RKC/JEP Judges Platform, from 1st January 2026. There are still a large number of you out there who, maybe, do not think the JEP does not apply to you, actually, take a few minutes out and get your details recorded. Regardless of your previous achievements, previous judging and experience, this will be the only place to be listed as Club lists for these groups will no longer be applicable and Judges will only be selected from this Leve!

Applications via “Grandfather Rights” close on December 31st 2025 and those currently progressing via this system must remember that along with the RKC requirements re previous achievements, your name MUST appear on the Rough Collie Breed Council A3 lists, which requires 50% of ALL clubs to approve / agree.
To enable this last process to be achieved easily, please send your CV direct to Christine Collins, Secretary of the RCBC, who will ensure that all 14 Breed Clubs are circulated which actually saves the applicant time.
All applications to the JEP Platform  are FREE and once your account I opened, it is easy to access. Also, it is a comparatively simple process to upload all your current information starting at the requirements for Level 1.
To progress to a JEP Level 1 Judge, you need to have:
• A proven interest of a minimum of 5 years in one or more aspects of the breeding and exhibiting of pedigree dogs (including show administration or stewarding)
• Undertaken 2 full days of stewarding appointments •
Attended a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge (RDSJ) seminar and pass the exam - both in person or online.
• Attended a Kennel Club Conformation and Movement seminar
• Pass the Points of a Dog assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer

Level 2 Judges, where you can actually judge and also apply for Mentoring have the following additions FOR YOUR FIRST BREED:

  • Attend a breed appreciation day (BAD) and pass a multiple-choice examination (MCE) for the respective breed.
  • View ring stewarding seminar and take online quiz.
  • Complete critique writing seminar and take online quiz.

Talking of Mentoring, many thanks to those who have made contact but we are still looking for more of you to help. Surely giving up a few hours to help to educate new judges is little to ask and means that we could have more educated people centre stage – Thanks in advance. Please contact me, as BEC via ca.antoc@btinternet.com if you feel you meet the requirements.
