Despite the horrendous weather forecasts, some assembled at Netherton Village Hall, Netherton, Wakefield, a new venue  for YCC first Open show for the year.
The nominated judges here, were: Jake Walsh (Rosschell) for Roughs; Rachel Tilley (DeTillio) for Smooths and SAC, with Angela Harvey (Wicani) overall BIS.
From the published entry, the final show catalogue included 48 Roughs, 12 Smooths, SAC classes had 27 entered, all in previous classes and 4 for the Rough Baby Puppy class. However, on the day many were absent. Leaving some classes rather empty.
As many of you are aware, Jake has an ownership with Michelle Davis in the kennel name Rosschell and more recently has been winning well with his ASD, although he does have a few roughs mainly in partnership with others, he is often called upon to handle for many.
From those present (12) judging commenced with the Baby Puppy class  which only had Lorraine McLenahan with Gataj Bright Lightning Over Shelfpark standing alone. This was followed by Spl Beginners D/B  which was won by Wicani Belladonna for Bearven and Megan Gatt. With no shows in both Junior & Maiden, Graduate was won by Megan Gatt, this time with Imagist Superior Sam with Bearven. Julie Edwards won PG with Beldones Mojito and  taking BD, from Limit, was the tricolour of Miranda Blake and Corydon The Baronet, Ninja, with Jo Williams and Ch Mejola Top Gun in reserve. BPD went to Jo’s Mejola Endeavour.
For the ladies, a few more managed to attend and winning Veteran was Corisian French Tease From Shulune and Julie Edwards. Mejola Some Girls Do stood alone in Puppy. Megan Gatt and Wicani Belladonna for Bearven won a nice Junior Class. With no entries in Maiden, Graduate was won by Jan Williams and her Essanjay Heartbreaker, PG followed with Wicani That’s Amore with Bellawave winning for Gina Stillwell. Stregato My Silver Tassie with Gemheid and Heidi Gallagher won Limit. Taking g BB from Open was Ingledene Crystal Vision of Phreelancer, Vivien  to her friends for Lene Newman. A nice win of RBB went to the winner of Graduate, who was Jan Williams and Essanjay Heartbreaker. BPB to Mejola Edge of Glory..
BOB went to Lene and Vivien, RBOB to Ninja, with BPIB to Jo and Mejola Endeavour. BVIB was a lovely win for Julie Edwards with Corisian French Tease From Shulune, now a very sprightly 8 years plus lady.
Angela Harvey (Wicani) decided BIS and this went to the Smooth, Marianne Benton with Ch Blamorder Double Or Quits of Oakestelle, with Lene taking RBIS. BVIS was also awarded to the Smooth, as was BPIS.

Rachel Tilley (DeTillio) not only judged the Smooth collies but also the rough SAC classes and found her winners in: Mejola Edge of Glory (Puppy); Imaginist A Griffin’s Mark (PG) and Ingledene Crystal Vision of Phreelancer (Open)

Sadly, I received news that Keith Brand had died. Along with wife Terri, they campaigned Collies under their Ronansprey affix. When more details are available, they will be published but we send our thoughts to all family and friends.
