5th June 2026

It was a rather warm day on Newbury Showground for the entry of 20 males and 35 females ( of which 12 were marked absent) This was for Unto Timonen, from Finland, who actually judged here at SCCA, without CC’s in 2018.
It really was a day of “Firsts” as both CC and a RCC winner were receiving their first green card for their exhibits, although some owners were/are well known in the show ring.
Taking a first CC for owner Cathy Cooper, was Kelekona Hearts of Gold. JW A sable, homebred by Ch Ladnar Mustriharder out of Lilith Nar Sule of Kelekona. (Corydon Riffson ex Rayawna Nightingale) and he has been well recently and was born in July 2022.
Another to receive a first small green card was Rachel Tilley and her Gemheid May’d of Amber for Detillio. This boy, bred by Heidi Gallagher by Afterglow Invocation out of Gemheid Call Me Trouble (Wicani By Sword and Sorcery ex Gemheid Rebecca)  won the limit class and their first RCC.
BPD was a choice between Kelekona Hearts of Fire ( a son of the CC winner) and Sue Thorne and Chelborn Look at Me, who came out on top. Colin Bartram entered, and won Veteran with his Ambartr King of the Ring, (to whom Unto had given Junior to the last time he judged here). Stefani Flower made a good start to her day, by winning Yearling with Serenlas The Jokerman. Val Geddes and Ingledene Absolute legend won PG.
Veteran Bitch was a nice win for Ch Ingledene Sno Wanda, followed by a MP win for Ingledene Sno Secret (daughter of Veteran winner).  Chelborn Blue Me Away in the ownership of Vanessa and Isaac Preddy took PB.  Janine Hanson and Jards Cudmirrah Special won Junior. Jane Margetts won Yearling with Lynmead Designer Tipple for Collingvale and quickly had to inform the Secretary of an error as she found she had been entered into Special beginners by accident. Shirley Daley and Gataj Someone You Loved for Melayla won PG whilst Sue Howard, fresh from her holiday with friends Val Tame  and Norma Larkin, won Limit with Ladnar Izadorable. Natalia Skalin handled Int/Fin/EE Ch Skabona Wish Me Luck for her and Anne Kokkonen to win Open.
The CC, her first in the UK went to Natalia who had recently been on a UK holiday with Skabona Wish Me Luck who carries a few European titles, including her Int, FIN/EE titles. Born in March 2020, a sable sired by Int/Fin/Dk/Nor/Lt Ch Rejejs Oriental Milk Chocolate out of  Int/Dk/Fin/Lt Ch Heidelind’s Good Luck to Skabona, bred by Bo & Natalia she is in the ownership of Natalia and Anne. Interesting to note that her sire is  father of Skabona Mix’n’Match and her dam is mother of another top winning Skabona lady in Skabona Too Good To be True, both of whom have won their UK Ch titles.
The second in Open was called in and a delighted Stefani received the RBCC with her Serenlas Pumpkin Spice, who already holds 2CC’s the last won last year also at S.Cos.. A Sable, born October 2021 is sired by Ingledene Spirit n’Venture out of Serenlas Pagan’s Moon. BPB went to Chelborn Blue Me Away and BVB to Val and Sno Wanda.
BOB went to Natalia, BPIB to Chelborn Blue Me Away, BVIB to Sno Wanda and Best Spl Beginners to Chelborn Look At Me and all went forward to their respective groups judged by Espen Engh from Norway who short-listed Natalia. Kimmo Mustonen did puppies, Dr Annuka Paloheimo from Finland for veterans and Kaisa Gold from Finland did Spl Beginners but I did not hear of further success.
Earlier in the day, Stefani had entered in the Breeders Stakes under Alison King, who had just recently judged our breed at Bath and returned with a creditable 2nd place from the 4 entries present.
During the day it was lovely to see a very busy Hannah Walder helping out where I am sure she was able to add her administrative skills to the existing Committee, headed by Angela Cavil and Ruth Chapman, as Hannah was previous secretary to Midland Collie, where from she recently resigned. Always one to help she was also in the breed ring helping others with their charges.
As promised, with grateful thanks to both Christine Collins and Odile Foy, here are the main results for the recent ENE show. Here in the immaculate grounds many from the UK spent and enjoyable, but hot time watching, and even competing.
I understand that Steve Toogood and his wife also went over to the ENE with their exhibits: Hanvale Ralph Lauren JW and Yvaine Angel Silvestre at Hagneetat where they were duly placed under both Hannah Walder (Hanvale) and Solange Roser and now have caught the ENE BUG and have already planned for their trip next year. Well done.

Thursday at Malvern saw Robin Blaikie centre stage at the 3 Counties Ch Show. His entry was announced as 21 males and 40 females.
Robin, originally based in Scotland has the Kourika kennel and he last judged at Scottish Collie in 2022 and prior to that at YCC 2019.
Judging was inside the Avon Hall starting at 9am and by mid-day some were able to make their return journeys back home. According to Fosse there were 5 boys missing along with 10 ladies.
Following on from a few well deserved RCC wins, the big green one landed into Mellissa Lockyer’s hands when Gataj Just Like Jesse James topped the boys from Junior. To refresh your memory, he is sired by Ch Gataj Turn Back Time out of Sweetmint’s Uptown Girl at Gataj (imp Nor) and he celebrated his first birthday on 12th April.
As he was alone in his class, there was no one to call in to challenge and from the remaining challengers, the RDCC went to Steve Toogood, fresh from his exploits in France. He won with Troon, or to give him his official name, Hanvale Ralph Lauren JW, bred by Hannah & Simon Walder. Sired by Hanvale Arthur Shelby at Damos out of Tamira’s Miracle Cornflake Girl at Hanvale  and he will celebrate his 3rd birthday on the 20th of this month. Others in the challenge included: Veteran, Brilyn Born to Run for Glenbowdene, Puppy was  As Desas du Domaine des Emeruades for Brian and Odile; Sue & Dave Randall with Vince, Ladnar Call My Name JW; Roughrigg Rags’n’Riches for Morag & Jim McCarte won PG and Ch Beldones Ivory Star took Open.
For the ladies, there were 10 missing and heading these and claiming a new Ch title was Di Ware and her Millubie Essence of Magic at Wassail (Imp Serbia). This tricolour lady won her 1st at   Bournemouth from Jane Stevens,  followed by a 2nd at CA from Jo Hodges.  Sired by Millubie Countdown out of Millubie Game of Magic and she was born 24th Nov 2020 and bred by Ljubisa, She won the Open class of 3. Taking home the RBCC was the winner of Limit, Val Tame’s Gataj Time After Time at Rahlissa. Other to win classes included. Santaloly’s Sky Amidalas VW ShCEx who won Veteran; Jayne & Carl Lewellyn won PG with Salsina Mystic Rose. Mellissa won Graduate with Vichy Vuitton of Dirty Booties at Gataj; Karen Johnston took Junior with Geosamka Summer; whilst Vanessa & Isaac’s Chelborn Blue Me Away was alone in Puppy. Sweetmint’s Yasmin at Roughrigg (imp Nor) won MP.
In the final challenge Melissa took BOB; BPIB went to Jim McCarte and Sweetmint’s Yasmin and BVIB to Sheila Telford and Brilyn Born to Run for Glenbowdene.
The Group Judges were Jo Smith for the Adult Group; Vanessa Wegman for Puppies and Mr C Powell for Veterans.
Finally, the RKC is requesting our help to complete their BREEDER INSIGHTS AND EXPERIENCE SURVEY available in many places but also on Collielife front page. Apart from the “drop-down” menu listing numerous NON-RECOGNISED breeds it is interesting!
