22nd May 2026
All roads led to SKC at Ingliston for the SKC ALL BREED Ch show the 207th and SKC GENERAL Ch show the 208th where the entry for both shows were similar.
Liam Kelly was the judge at the first show and had received an entry of 23 dogs and 43 bitches, whilst Daphne Iley had 25 and 45.
Liam holds the Ballahanna affix and this was his first UK appointment whilst Daphne holds the Ileyda affix along with husband Tony. Judging for Liam was listed with an 8.30 start according to Fosse, whose results were uploaded as they happened, they show a total of 6 missing and topping the boys was Clovis, Ch Beldones Ivory Star who collected anther CC to add to his total. The winner of Limit was Avonfair Aloysius for the Mitchell and Brooker family. He is sired by Ch Born To Be Quite Famous Lynmead out of Avonfair A Million Love Song JW and he too adds this award to his previous collection
Sue Thorne won Puppy with her Chelborn Look At Me, Melissa took Junior with Gataj Just Like Jesse James and also Yearling with Gataj I Got You Babe. Winning PG was Stormway Into My Heart at Wicani (Imp Italy) for joint owners MacDonald & Harvey. Lynda Watt won Veteran with Culbrae Red Again. Good Citizen went to Clare Shorten with Thistlewings Andromeda at Bracoisla and Sue Thorn also won Special Beginners, have entered prior to her lovely win recently.
Now to the ladies where again there were absentees, about 12. Taking the BCC was Ch Aaronwell Able Mabel, her 4th, for John Congdon, she won from the Open class and is sired by Ch Brilyn Intoxicated out of Riverside Song Desiderata at Aaronwell and was born May 2023. Winning the RBCC was Tremaro Million Dollar Baby from PG for Rob & Margaret Shipp who let me know of this win, many thanks. She is sired by Very Special Angel at Silvestre at Gataj out of Tremaro A Kind A Magic and she celebrated her second birthday last April.
Sweetmints Yasmin at Roughrigg (imp Norway) won not only MPB but also BPB and BPIB for Morag & Jim McCarte. She is sired by Sweetmints Supernova out of Monsolana Lady Dream and was born Sept 2025 being bred by S Svendstad and I Tempelen. Puppy went to Karen Johnston and Geosamka Summer, Aaronwell All About Elsa won Junior, Beldones Fantasy took Yearling whilst Limit went to Jo Hodges and Jopium Follow My Heart JW. Lemivee Connie’s Songbird took Special Beginners having been 3rd in Puppy and Good Citizen went to Elspeth Rose and Beldones Clementine avec Coloratura.
In the challenge, BOB to John and Able Mabel, BPIB to Jim & Morag and their Sweetmints baby, Lynda Watt was BVIB as the only entrant in VB was absent. Sue Thorne won best Special Beginners overall with Chelborn Look At Me.
Group Judges for this show were: Tim Ball (Adult) who had pre-judged most of his BOB winners but nice to see John and the Lancashire Heller being “pulled out” for their examination as they were still in the show when pre-judging occurred but did not progress any further. Miss L Tarabad (Puppy), also pre-judged and a message from Morag McCarte to say that although Jim ventured in for the pre-judging they too did not progress and due to the fact that this was “Yasmin’s” first show and being a youngster, Jim, who was “flying solo” as Morag was home sorting out their new home and kennels, decided in best interests to come home. Joe Smith judged Veteran and Mrs Melanie Reed-Peck for Special Beginners. As far as I have heard there were no other winning roughs in the remaining groups.
Now to the 2nd show of the day where Daphne was the judge, she last Judged at YCC in 2023 and prior to that at ACC in 2017.
Although many classes had similar results, her choice for the Dog CC, and his title, was “Fred”, perhaps better known as Camanna Cellmate, owned and bred by Anne Hassock. Sired by Ch Paulara No Where Man out of Camanna Paulara Cissy Spacek and he was born December 2022. His other CC wins were from: Brian Hawkins last year at City of Birmingham and his first from Tony Iley at CCW in 2024. On the day, he was handled by Deborah Finney, due to Anne waiting for a hip operation which has affected her mobility.
Having missed his class at the first show, Jim McCarte made sure he was ready for Post Grad and won it, along with the Reserve CC. This was with Roughrigg Rags’n’Riches. Sired by Ch Roughrigg Rag’n’Bone Man out of Beldones Beaute Blond at Roughrigg and he was born in January 2024.
Other class winners included: Robin Blaikie and Kourika Dancing On Ice (PD); Gataj Just Like Jesse James and Melissa (JD), Melissa also won Yearling, alone with Gataj I Got You Babe. Open was won by Ch Beldones Ivory Star for Odile and Brian, whilst Lynda Watt took Veteran with Culbrae Red Again. Sue Thorne won Spl Beginners with Chelborn Look At Me and Chloe Shorten won Good Citizens with Thistlewings Andromeda at Bracoisla.
Now to the ladies, again very similar results with the BCC going to John Congdon with Able Mabel but the RBCC was awarded to the winner of Yearling, Beldones Fantasy for Brian & Odile. Sired by Ch Beldones Toucher du Bois out of Beldones California and she was born October 2024.
Others to win classes were: Sweetmints Yasmin at Roughrigg, Vanessa & Isaac Preddy and Chelborn Blue Me Away won PB. Your Majesty Angel Silvestre at Gataj tool Junior for Melissa. Wilma Brodie won PG with Shanaburn Midnight Kisses and Jo Hodges won Limit with Jopium Follow My Heart JW. Alex Mills won Special Beginners (having been 3rd in her puppy class) with Lemivee Connie’s Songbird and Elspeth Rose won Good Citizen with Beldones Clementine avec Colotura.
In the final challenge, Daphne gave Fred BOB, BPIB to Jim McCarte and Sweetmints Yasmin at Roughrigg and BVIB to Lynda and Culbrae Red Again.
The group was judged by Tom Johnston, and ,as advised above, unfortunately Fred was absent. Mrs A Hardy judged the Puppy Groups, Mr J Robertson for Veteran and Special Beginners Group by Helen Wayman, who was pleased to select Lemivee Connie’s Songbird to G3 – interesting to note she is sired by the RDCC winner and another nice win for the breed and Alex. Well Done
Away from the show ring, Stacy Steven and her band of collies went to Irvine Dog Training Club Obedience show and following a message from Stacy she confirmed that Cambrogan Blowin A Hoolie, Brooke won her 2nd Pre-Beginner class, and although thrilled with Brooke, she has now won her way out of this class. All this was a result of regular training sessions at home with Stacy. Along with Barra and the others. Good to hear how versatile our collies can be.
