Rough Collies
I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this prestigious Ch Show, also a big thank you to my two stewards Paula and Doug who were very efficient.
I was quite disappointed with the quality in the lower classes except for the ones that really shone quality. I have been in Rough Collies showing, breeding, and judging for well over 50 years, and yes there have been highs and lows but we must remember the exhibits in the lower classes are our foundations for the future.
On the whole exhibits were groomed well, apart from a few who needed better attention to their presentation, there is no point in trying to keep the coat with big knots by just top dressing, it is better to groom all the dead coat out and encourage the new coat in.
Quite a few exhibits were unhappy with the floor which I have to say was quite slippery in places
Minor Puppy Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: Lockyer GATAJ TURN BACK TIME s/w just 6 month old who was enjoying his day out, lovely well balanced head with correct almond shaped eye giving a sweet expression, ears well placed and used all the time. Good reach of neck, and good length of back with a lovely turn of stifle, short hocks moved well for one so young. Lovely fitting coat which was gleaming. Best Puppy Dog. I will watch his progress with interest.
2nd: Collins TRIBURLE BLUEBOLERO b/m 8 months old , head ok to handle, ears are a bit low set. Fair reach of neck, nice length of back, a bit straight in stifle, was very unsure when standing and moving
3rd: Dodsworth LIBANEL EVERLASTING CHARM
Puppy Dog (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Lockyer VERY SPECIAL ANGEL SILVESTRE AT GATAJ (IMP Bel) s/w 7 month old. Good head to handle, with just the right amount of stop, I would prefer a bigger eye, ears correctly placed, fair reach of neck and good length of back, fair turn of stifle. Needs to tighten in movement.
Junior Dog (3 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Llewellyn AVONFAIR SPELLBOUND WITH SALSINA s/w Fair head to handle, ears used to advantage, fair reach of neck, good length of back, fair turn of stifle. Needs to settle in movement.
Yearling Dog (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Blaikie KOURIKA YOU tri with lovely jet black colour coat and good tan markings, his head is lovely to handle with correctly placed stop, lovely almond shaped eye giving a super expression, ears well placed and used to advantage, fair reach of neck with correct length of back, fair turn of stifle, short hocks. Moved well.
2nd: Lockyer GATAJ OUT OF THE WOODS JW s/w in good coat, smaller dog than first with a nice head, lovely dark almond shaped eye, fair reach of neck with good length of back, turn of stifle ok, short hocks. Moved well.
3rd: Howard, Newton, & Patterson LADNAR DREAMCHASER
Post Graduate Dog (8 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Foy/Hawkins BELDONES ROCKET MAN s/w lovely wedge shaped head with correctly placed stop, dark almond shaped eye giving a lovely expression, ears correctly placed and used to advantage, fair reach of neck with a good length of back, lovely turn of stifle with short hocks. Moved well. Unfortunately, when it came to the challenge he was not very happy, and would not co-operate with his handler.
2nd Boyle MONSOLANA ASPIRE to INSPIRE over BARRENCLOUGH (Imp) Tri not in very good coat and so his colour was not good. Head ok to handle, fair reach of neck with good length of back, was a bit erratic on the move, I feel that if he was moved slower, it would be better.
3rd: Pullin BARRENCLOUGH DIAMOND DAWN at MYJACKS
Limit Dog (10 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: Turner CHANTIQUE MAGICAL MYSTERY s/w Nice enough head to handle with a good stop and dark almond shaped eye giving the desired expression, I would prefer ears to be a bit tighter. Fair reach of neck, with a good length of back, good turn of stifle and short hocks. Moved very well.
2nd: Growcott LILLYWAY LEGACY Tri colour with lovely tan markings. Lovely wedge shaped head with well placed stop and dark almond shaped eyes giving the desired expression, ears right on top and used all the time. Good reach of neck with correct length of back, and fair turn of stifle. Moved very well.
3rd: Boyle BARRENCLOUGH HEART of GOLD JW
Open Dog (7 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: GRAINGER Ch SAMHAVEN BALLAHANNA BANJO s/w of superb quality. Super head with a stop in the correct position and dark almond shaped eye giving a truly melting expression. Ears positioned well and used to advantage, lovely length of neck, with well laid shoulders. Correct length of back with very good turn of stifle and short hocks. Moved with drive and purpose round the ring. The overall picture of this dog is well balanced and superb. I was incredibly pleased to award him DCC and BOB
2nd: Lockyer Ch GATAJ STRUCK BY LIGHTNING s/w another dog of super quality,. Lovely wedge shaped head with just the right amount of stop, dark almond shaped eye giving the desired expression. Ears right on top and used all the time, fair reach of neck, slightly shorter in length than winner he has a good turn of stifle and short hocks. Moved very well RDCC
3rd: TURNER Paulara No Where Man
Veteran Dog (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Steven CARAIADHAF CRAZY DREAM 8 year old s/w who was enjoying his day. You need to handle this dog to appreciate him. He has a lovely head with good stop, I would prefer a better shaped eye, ears bang on top and used all the time, good reach of neck and correct length of back with a fair turn of stifle. Moved with drive and in total sync with his handler. I was pleased to award him Best Veteran Dog and Best Veteran in Breed.
2nd: Corben CAPRIOARA PRINCE OF THIEVES Tri Colour 7 years old in good hard condition, good reach of neck and length of back, too straight in stifle, and too long in the hock which gives a stilted movement.

Minor Puppy Bitch (7 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Tipper GATAJ ISLA BLUE at TIGANLEA b/m 8 months old. Nice head with good eye placement and expression, Ears placed well and used to advantage. Fair reach of neck, good length of body and fair turn of stifle. Moved ok.
2nd: Shipp TREMARO KIND OF MAGIC s/w a very raw 6 month old baby. Lovely head with correct placed stop and dark almond shaped eye giving a lovely expression, well placed ears which she used to advantage. Fair reach of neck and correct length of back, good turn of stifle, and short hocks. She just needs to settle in movement. I will watch her progress with interest.

1st: McEntee LYNWAY SUN BLOSSOM THROUGH GERIAN S/W nearly 12 months old. Lovely head with correctly placed stop, and dark almond shaped eye giving a sweet expression, Ears right on top and used all the time, fair reach of neck with good length of back, lovely turn of stifle with short hocks. Moved very well. I was pleased to award her BPB and BPIB
2nd: Rose BELDONES CLEMENTINE avec COLORATURA (naf) s/w which was lacking in coat. Nice head with correctly placed stop and eye, ears well placed and used all the time. Fair reach of neck and length of body. Moved ok.
3rd: Baker MARILAKE SONGBIRD
Junior Bitch (6 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Llewellyn AVONFAIR SECRET LOVE LETTER to SALSINA s/w lovely wedge shaped head with correctly placed stop, lovely dark almond shaped eye giving the desired expression. Ears right on top and used all the time, lovely reach of neck and good body length, good turn of stifle with short hocks. Moved well.
2nd: Turner SATIN DREAM DU CLOS DE SEA WIND s/w with a lovely head, with correctly placed stop and eye placement. Ears well placed and used to advantage. Fair reach of neck with nice length of back and good turn of stifle with short hocks. She was a bit apprehensive, and this showed in her movement.
3rd: Ross MOST MAJESTIC TIMELESS TOUCH AT SAMSHERNIK naf taf
Yearling Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Lockyer GATAJ GOOD TIME GIRL s/w with a lovely head and just the right amount of stop, super dark almond shaped eye giving a truly lovely expression. Ears right on top and used all the time. Good reach of neck and shoulder placement, lovely length of back, with good turn of stifle and short hocks, moved out well. I was pleased to award her RBCC
2nd: Mitchell & Jordan AVONFAIR A MILLION LOVE SONG NAF/ TAF s/w with a lovely head and dark almond shaped eye giving a super expression. Ears well placed and used all the time. Fair reach of neck with good length of back and turn of stifle, short hocks. Moved well.
3rd: Growcott LILLYWAY LEMON BREEZE
Post Graduate Bitch (9 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: Larkin RAHLISSA TOFFEE CAKE for DENORA s/w even though she had decided to leave her wardrobe at home it showed her shape and make very well. Nice head with good stop and expression, ears right on top and used all the time, good reach of neck and length of body. Moved well.
2nd: Gautrey CARRISTINA SUMMER RHAPSODY s/w just coming back into coat, she has a lovely wedge shaped head with correctly placed stop, superb dark almond shaped eye giving a lovely melting expression, ears well placed and used to advantage, good reach of neck with a lovely length of back. Moved ok.
3rd: Rose UFFSPRING ULTRAVOX for COLORATURA NAF
Limit Bitch (9 Entries) Abs: 5
1st: Lockyer GATAJ HONEY BEE s/w with a lovely head and just the right amount of stop, superb dark almond shaped eye giving a super expression. Ears correctly placed and used all the time. Fair reach of neck with good shoulder placement, good body length and lovely turn of stifle with short hocks. Moved well. She pressed hard in the challenge, but I am sure her day will come.
2nd: Harrison CAMBROGAN LADY of LOCH'ABER at CARIADHAF s/w with a lovely head, good stop, and dark almond shaped eye. Ears right on top and used all the time. Good reach of neck with correct body length, good turn of stifle. Moved with drive.
3rd: Blackburn/Jones ERJON EBONY JEWELS
Open Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Blaikie KOURIKA KOVER GIRL shaded s/w who took my attention the moment she walked in the ring, and I was not disappoint when I went over her. Well balanced wedge shaped head with just the right amount of stop which was placed correctly, she has beautiful dark almond shaped eye giving a melting expression with ears right on top which she used to advantage, Beautiful arched neck which enhanced her outline with good shoulder placement, correct length of back and superb turn of stifle and short hocks, moved well. I was pleased to award her BCC. Lost out in the challenge for BOB due to her slipping on the floor which unsettled her.
2nd: Shipp GILLYFLOWER DELLA BUCA DELLE FATE (IMP ITA) s/w slightly different type to first but with a lovely balanced head with good stop and eye placement. Ears right on top and used all the time, superb reach of neck, good body length, super turn of stifle and short hocks. Moved well.
3rd: McEntee GERIAN SUNLITE
Veteran Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Boyle MONSOLANA MADAM BLUES over BARRENCLOUGH Sh.CM (Imp) b/m good head, correctly placed stop, nice eye. Ears used to advantage, fair reach of neck, good length of back. Moved ok but would benefit from being moved on a loose lead.
2nd: Steven CARIADHAF COOKIES AND CREAM for CAMBROGAN Tri with nice head and correctly placed stop, would prefer a smaller eye. Ears are a bit heavy and wide. Fair length of neck, correct length of body, fair turn of stifle. Moved ok.
3rd: Skinner SAMAHAVEN TIME IS MONEY With NIKAL

1st: Rose UFFSPRING ULTRAVOX for COLORATUR NAF Was placed 3rd in post graduate bitch. Fair head to handle with good stop and eye. Ears correctly placed, good length of body. Moved ok.
